So for example,
If we have person A with Mars square Pluto, and that person has a close friendship with another whose, let's say Jupiter, trines the Mars of person A. (And let's also say that there are no adverse aspects from B's chart to A's natal square. Just a trine from Jupiter to their Mars.)

What has been your experience in these types of synastry situations?

Are you given some space to breathe, and is it welcome, or do you want to get back to your comfortable, let's say, instability, cos it's familiar, and you want to work with it in your own time, thanksverymuch?

My best friend from my late teens/early twenties had moon at around 27 Virgo Square Neptune at 29 Sag. I had Moon at 29 Cancer quincunx Venus at 29 Sag. The quincunx is kind of an awkward aspect, and for me it felt as if I was sometimes intensely embarrassed by my own feelings and desires for affection. When I was with her it was as if she soothed that awkward part of me, and I could openly express my feelings and relationship viewpoints without feeling shy or weird about it. She soothed my moon with hers, and enhanced my Venus with her Neptune, but she also squared my Venus with her moon and reinforced the quincunx natural in my natal chart with her Neptune. Squares, can bring conflict but they can also bring breakthroughs… I think the Sag Venus/ Virgo moon square helped me break out in this way, and that the moon/moon sextile helped me to feel more comfortable with myself in doing so. The Venus/Neptune conjunction made us feel very empathetic towards each other, we liked each other and just got along, but the quincunx to my moon, is interesting. We would often talk about things we found embarrassing and awkward and joke about it, we had some common opinions on this type of thing and 'got' each other on the weird embarrassing stuff in life.

My pisces had a Sun/Neptune square and I guess this was the strongest aspect in his chart as he dealt with addiction, escaping etc. (Sun = chartruler)

The only aspect this square received was an exact TRINE from my Scorp-Moon to his Pisces-Sun.

(I will not talk about my Moon/Mars-Square which also received this exact TRINE but as my Mars was also conjunct his Venus and my Moon square his Venus..)

So, what did my Moon in an exact trine to his Sun(-square Neptune) do?

Well, I've never really attacked him for being so addiction-sensitive and I gave my support but not in a forceful way.
But.. I KNOW he (thought he) needed more of a kick in the ass and I wasn't the person for doing that as I don't want to receive a kick in the ass myself to become or stay motivated. I also didn't want to spend my energy as a rigid re-educator in the footsteps of his mom..
He often generated (to me absolutely unnecessary) an unbearable tension just to let me have my emotional and almost hysterical outbursts (Moon square Mars) so that he could make himself believe that *he* wasn't the only one with problems. He once said that he was glad I had them because it felt more equal but he didn't see HE was making a hysteric out of me!

Well, that's how *I* see it

mir, that makes sense. The lunar response is to provide a haven, sort of like a mother would. And also, his Sun in aspect trine to your natal Moon (sq Mars), the Sun does shed light on situations, I would've thought for the better..but maybe his delusional natal Sun sq Neptune was coming into play there
