lets talk about the wide aspects in our chart.

you know, it could be squares wider tahn 5 orb (6 - 9 orb)

whats your experience? do you discount them? have you tried reading the description to see if that wide aspect indeed is something you can't relate to?

can you relate to it?

post it here, it can be any aspect.

lets discuss aspects.

today im going to research wide aspects in my chart again that i'm interested in because sometimes i feel the shoe fits but then im not certain enough.

the last time i discussed and thought about orbs, i settled on a theory that, aspects count up to 9 orb but the tighter it is, the more likely you will feel it or incorporate it - and i don't think we have to feel or notice aspects to necessarily incorporate them so much into ourselves. especially in aspects such as trines and sextiles.

i think astrology is never about exact details or text book formula.

to me, astrology is about Energy and Themes that are built around the planet or sign or house. but its up to use to actually pin point how these energies are actually beign experienced or coming out.

so NO, if you have pluto - venus aspect it does not mean you are sexy in attracting a mate, or obsessive necessarily.

astrology is so much BROADER.

you have to be analytical iv learned, to connect the themes.

anyway, im gonna make another topic for that.

im going to look into some of the following wide aspectsi n my chart -

Mars Trine Uranus - 9 orb

Mercury Square Uranus - 8 orb

Venus Square Neptune - 7 orb

Uranus Square Moon - 7 orb

Venus Oppose Moon - 6 orb

Mars Sextile Jupiter - 7 orb

venus conjunct mercury - 10 orb

when i think about my own view of how astrology works, it makes me feel like there is too much emphasis on orbs, orbs make it too black and white, which in my own view of astrology, DOESNT work, because astrology isnt black and white to me. astrology is based on energy as i said (in my opinion) it makes no sense for me to believe that because the orb is wide, that my planet in say, Capricorn, uranus, isnt at odds with my moon which is in aries, what i do believe is the orb influences how much you come to terms with these energies conflicting, how much you experience the energy in life, but NOT wether you have that Square energy. the fact they are in square signs shows problems period. just not anywheren ear to the degree of a square by aspect. i feel the same way about a same sign interaction between a aries mars and aries venus person, they may not "meet and fuse" as one often, but they do things the same way, it appeals, it works.

i feel wide aspects are just space, but a space that isnt necessarily making the aspect not there, but actually, i feel that the wide aspects in our charts are actually just the ones that promote more "choice" or "free Will" in incorporating into us. a choice for us to ignore, or reach out for and pull it into us and incorporate it.

venus, i don't know, thats why we do research.

but i believe its more than possible. i think the wider an aspect you have between two planets, the more Conscious energy is needed to incoporate and work them together.

why?

because, they are firstly, in the "zone" of an aspect by orb (within 10) that menas they are atleast roughly working at points that meet, that ought to be expressed into what i experience or do in life. if my jupiter is sat here in cancer, and it sees things, believes in things, and its morals and codes are molded by cancer, then it makes much sense to me that my Mars in virgo neighbhor, can work with taht energy positvely. the ame way it would do if it was within orb, my jupiter at 3 orb cancer, will share the same thing with someones 8 orb jupiter in cancer to some degree atleast, which means the same energy is at my disposal anyway, to work with my mars in virgo. if that makes sense? i am not the best at explaining my own theories.

i believe wide aspects determine how often the planets work together. less often the more wide.

Wide orbed ptolemaic aspects will be different from the regular orbed ptolemaic aspects. They will be different harmonics.

They can have the effect of the ptolemaic aspects, but additionally they will have the effect of the actual harmonic

for instance, if a square of 8 degree orb will be a triundecile which is an 11th harmonic aspect

so the wide square won't be just about friction, conflict, but it will also have a rebellious, unstable, social consciousness, and even technological influence which 11th harmonics are said to be about.

I have one myself with Mercury and Mars, and they are involved in 11th harmonic aspect patterns with Saturn,Uranus,Sedna.

A triundecile is 98 degrees, 10 minutes,54 seconds.

If you look at a 4th harmonic chart, a wide orbed square will not be in conjunction in that chart.

A regular orb square will appear as a conjunction in the 4th harmonic chart.

Harmonic astrologers use up to 15 degrees for a conjunction. A 15 degree conjunction is actually a quindecile which is 15 degree aspect. It's a 24th harmonic. Harmonic Astrologer,
David Hamblyn used a 12 degree maximum orb for conjunction.
Interestingly, he is now a critic of Astrology like Geoffrey Dean who was also a former astrologer.

If astrologers use a 10 degree orb for a square, it can run into the binovile which is a 9th harmonic aspect. A binovile is 80 degrees.

also keep in mind that Ptolemy didn't devise the aspects to be used with orbs

The ptolemaic aspects were devised to be whole sign aspects

for instance if
Mercury was in 5 Scorpio
and Venus was in 29 Scorpio, then they would be in conjunction because they are in the same sign

Sun in 4 Aquarius and Jupiter in 25 Gemini would be considered a trine

Sun in 1 Leo and Saturn in 29 Scorpio would be considered a square even though they are a trine within orb

Modern Astrology today is much more geometrical because it focuses on aspect patterns like grand trines, t-squares, mystical rectangles, yods, and other aspect patterns

Aspects require a specific orb or they won't actually be in the aspect pattern

A lot of Mainstream Astrology doesn't resemble Ptolemy's Astrology

some of the things added to Astrology actually contradict Ptolemy's system and the logic behind it like orbs, the use of transSaturnian objects, house systems other than the whole sign house system

Many aspects in the Ptolemy system may not even be in orb if Sidereal Zodiac was used
Vedic Astrologers use Sidereal Zodiac
Vedic Astrologers also use whole sign aspects, but they use aspects differently
all planets aspect 7th house from itself
in addition:
Mars aspects the 4th and 8th houses from itself
Jupiter aspects the 5th and 9th houses from itself
Saturn aspects the 3rd and 10th houses from itself

The tropical zodiac and the sidereal zodiac were aligned at one time , and they drifted apart.

The sidereal zodiac actually was used before the tropical zodiac.
The Babylonians used a sidereal zodiac.
They used 18 signs and changed it to 12.
Before them, the Sumerians used a 6 sign zodiac.

I do feel aspects with wider orbs. Maybe to a lesser extent, but still.

My MC is at 28° Capricorn, and Neptune-Uranus at 18°. The orb is very wide, plus the planets are actually in the 9th, but I definitely relate to MC conjunct Neptune and Uranus.

I always take into account squares with a 8° orb.
Up to 6-7° for trines and 4-5° for sextiles though.
Around 10° for conjunctions/oppositions.
