Hi all!

I accidentally came across a Greek myth I hadn't previously read/heard about. It is about Achilles and Penthesilea. In the story she sets out to murder him but fails. He ruthlessly kills her instead as she begs for her life. When he sees her corpse he becomes deeply remorseful, falls in love with her and wishes he could've married her.

---

quote:
Penthesilea arrives in Troy at the start of Posthomerica the night before the fighting is due to recommence for the first time after Hector's death and funeral. She came to Troy for two reasons: firstly, to prove to others that her people, the Amazons, are great warriors and can share the hardships of war and, secondly, to appease the Gods after she accidentally killed her sister, Hippolyta, while hunting. She arrived with twelve companions and promised the Trojans that she would kill Achilles. On her first, and only, day of fighting, Penthesilea kills many men and clashes with Telamonian Ajax, although there is no clear victor, before she comes face to face with Achilles, who had been summoned by Telamonian Ajax. Prior to Achilles' entrance, Penthesilea had tried to fight Telamonian Ajax but he had merely laughed off her attempts, thinking her unfit to face him. Achilles eventually kills her, needing only one blow to her breastplate to knock her over and leave her begging for her life. He is unmoved by her pleas, however, and kills her. He mocks her corpse until he removes her helmet. At this point, Achilles is so moved by Penthesilea's beauty that he feels intense pity and sadness because he wishes that he could have married her.

quote:
In the Pseudo-Apollodorus Epitome of the Bibliotheke she is said to have been killed by Achilles, "who fell in love with the Amazon after her death and slew Thersites for jeering at him". The common interpretation of this has been that Achilles was romantically enamored of Penthesilea

I wonder what these asteroids could mean in a relationship between two people. The story sounds worse than Plutonian love/attraction

If anyone wants to have a look at these in synastry/natal, here are the asteroids from astro.com:

(271) Penthesilea

(588) Achilles

Please let me know what you find!

PS. I looked up my synastry with an ex of mine (my first bf). This was a very dysfunctional relationship and in a sense we did try to kill each other. I don't really want to elaborate on that but it's interesting that my Penthesilea is conjunct his Achilles in Pisces.

Antares is a fixed star, one of the four archangel stars at 9 46 sag.

Most on there I don't pay attention to but the archangel stars, ras alhague, vega, betelgeuse, sirius, and obviously caput algol.

I didn't look in the obvious place. My sister's penthesilea is quincunx my achilles. I've gotten that she's killed me before as my husband for me cheating and/or leaving and we tried to kill eachother as kids.. totally makes sense. The connection isn't there in draconics or composite, but my sister has a trine between these two objects in her natal in air.

Okay, wow, this is creepy. I recently learned about another past life with someone else I was married to who poisoned me when they thought I was cheating (I was the husband and wasn't cheating! apparently someone lied to her to hurt me or something). That person has penthesilea trine achilles exact in their chart as well in a water sign, making a trine from their penthesilea to my achilles. The connection isn't there in draconic composite either. I've always had an amicable relationship with the latter, but sometimes it's awkward.

I don't know if the sign/element would modify it, but I've found their penthesilea's make sense for the nature of the killing. My sister's draconic penthesilea is in leo, libra in tropical, and the other's is libra in draconic and cancer in tropical.
