talk about a film or book or character(s) that personify signs or planet placements etc in astrology!

for me, i watched The Silence of The Lambs again last night for the first time in a long time.

I loved it.

but its the first time iv watched it since being into astrology, and boy .. is taht film all about Scorpio/Pluto!

transformation?
Psychology?
control?
power?

dr. hannibal lector is like all of those things.

everytime i watch films or read books i have astrology like "automatically" tuned in to sensing what peoplse placements are.

with hannibal lecotr i just kept thinking he had moon in scorpio!

his character and portrayal by anthony hopkins stunk of Pluto/Scorpio, but also libra it seems.

anyone else do this?

I can't specifically think of any at the moment.. but I do notice male actors getting roles that allows them to play out their Venus or Moon signs..

I've been reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and I'm so trying to figure out what Hank Rearden is! Scorpio...or Capricorn? It seems obvious that Dagny is an Aquarian like her writer. And Francisco d'Anconia...can't figure him out either!

Interesting topic and also interesting how Scorpio/Pluto energy seems to stand out the most...or atleast it's the most talked about!

Hmmm… the astrology of fictional characters.

Well, first off I’d say that Mr. Darcy from 'Pride and Prejudice' is the typical archetypal Capricorn man. He gives the impression of being arrogant and aloof, when really he is just naturally reserved and shy, and doesn’t know quite how to express himself to Elizabeth. I’d guess he had a Scorpio moon, as he also seems to be quite intense, and broods over Elizabeth for a long time before coming out with his feelings. He also holds back on his feelings as he considers the fact that although he had fallen for her, she is far beneath him in terms of money and status and not who his family would have chosen. These are the sorts of things that would bother a Cap/Scorp type (issues concerning reputation and power, and also doing ones duty towards ones family). Unbeknown to Lizzy he seriously considers all these things, and finally decides his passion for her can no longer be denied, before going ahead with his proposal. I think he was quite shocked when she rejected him. It seems he assumed that his influential position would make him attractive to her, even if she wasn’t to sure if she liked him. Of course, that truth is that Lizzy’s mind had been poisoned by Mr. Wickam, and what she really objects to is her false perception of Mr. Darcy’s character. I’d say that Mr. Darcy’s Venus sign would be in either Aqua or Sag as those who knew him beyond the façade were able to testify to his giving affable nature, as well as his kind heartedness and integrity. Venus in an air or fire sign would also explain why he’d become so enamored with Lizzy who is definitely more of an outgoing character.

Jane Austen herself was a Sagittarius with moon in Libra and Virgo rising, and I think that the character of Lizzy may have been based to some extent on herself. Lizzy is described and someone who ‘delights in the ridiculous’, and who is very likeable with a certain ‘archness of manner’ (I think this is old school talk for ‘playfully sarcastic‘). Lizzy comes across as someone who is spirited and friendly which are very Sagittarian/Libran like qualities. Lizzy is portrayed as someone who speaks her mind. She is the opposite of Mr. Darcy, and 'Pride and Prejudice' is a very ‘opposites attract’ type of romance. It is interesting to note that the sign Capricorn falls on Jane Austen’s 5th house cusp so she probably had a romantic fascination with this type of a guy. Someone serious and reserved, and very different from herself.

I just wanted to add that my favorite reenactment of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is probably the BBC miniseries from around 1995. Colin Firth was an excellent Mr. Darcy, he knocked it out of the park. The Movie version from 2005 with Keira Knightly was also very well done, I loved it.

Blugrey,

Yes. I could see some Virgo traits in Mr. Darcy also and Colin Firth who played him in the BBC miniseries was a sun sign Virgo. Back to Jane Austen’s chart, she had a Pisces DSC ruled by Neptune in Virgo. So I’m sure she unconsciously infused Virgo-like qualities into her heros often. Also, Saturn ruler of her 5th house cusp was in Libra which would add a Libran streak to the Capricorn Cusp. My guess is that if Mr. Darcy had a natal chart I would have given him a Cap sun ruled by Saturn in Libra, moon in Scorpio or the 8th house, and a strong Virgo influence elsewhere in his chart, like mars or the Asc in that Sign. Venus would definitely be in either Aqua or Sag.

i watched the BBC series, and when i was watching that, i felt MR Darcy had strong virgo, more so than capricorn, BUT perhaps strong Saturn + aries.

i also felt scorpio, i wondered if it was his venus or moon.

and the libra part made sense. but in the end of the series, my perceptions had to change becacuse his "character" changed.

i felt Jane, the sister, was a PISCES or strong neptune.

lizzy, i could never be sure, but i felt libra or taurus too, or even aries or sagittarius. or gemini.

I know I stated in another thread that 'Black Swan' is a Scorpio movie. Actually, Scorpio/Virgo movie may be more correct.

What's even more interesting to me, is that the lead actresses, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, both have major Scorpio and Virgo in their charts. Natalie Portman- Gemini Sun, Scorpio Rising, Virgo Moon. Mila Kunis- Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon, Virgo Venus.

Mad Men is another show that I think is interesting in terms of astrology because there is a Virgo/Pisces theme running through it. If you look up the charts of many of the actors on the show, they have Virgo or Pisces somewhere in their chart.

It is my experience that Virgos are attracted to somewhat 'retro' types of music and clothing, and they are thereby often attracted to this show (moreso than other signs). Plus, Virgos tend to be super critical and Mad Men is very critically acclaimed. The attention to the level of detail in the show is just phenomenal.

I think the Pisces part of the show has more to do with the themes- ambiguous, everything is a big secret/mystery, nothing is really what it seems on the surface. It's very Neptunian in that way.

I remember looking up the astro profiles of the actors in Devil Wears Prada (actors, not characters). Most of the actors in that film are water signs and the people behind the scenes (writers, producers, directors) were fire signs. I found that so interesting.

As far as characters, I thought Meryl Streep's character came off like a Scorpio sun, Virgo moon, and Aries/Taurus cusp rising. I thought Anne Hathaway came off like a Pisces sun, Gemini moon, and Cancer rising. In real life, Meryl is a Cancer, Anne a Scorpio, and Adrian Grenier is a Cancer. I swear astrocasting played a big part in this film.

Another movie I thought showed the inherent differences in fire/water type relationships was Bride Wars. Interesting to note that Kate Hudson is an Aries with. Capricorn moon and Cancer rising and Anne Hathaway is a Scorpio (forget her other placements). Interesting dynamic between the two.

Dexter has grown into being like a book I can't put down as of late. Dexter's sister seems totally Sagittarian, and I looked her up today to find out that she is, in fact, a Sag. I knew it! Brilliant casting to put a Sag in a Sag-like role.
