I have an exact Sun square with my Scorpio friend.  I'm looking at our closest (tightest-orbed) aspects, and wondering how people who don't know us and are just looking at the charts would describe the relationship. Especially the communication dynamics. His Sun is square my Sun and Mercury (0, 2), and his Mercury is conjunct my Neptune (0). I'm inside, he's outside. We also have some planet-angle conjunctions--would that give our friendship longevity? His Jupiter conjunct my DC, his Venus conjunct my MC. What does it mean that it's mostly his planets, my angles, not the other way around? IP: Logged |

Well, Sun square Sun can’t be the kiss of death. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have it and they have lasted much longer then I ever expected. Also, she has Sun in Scorpio opposite her Moon in Taurus and both are square his Aqua Sun. Even more complicated, Uranus, co-ruler of Ashton’s Sun is in Scorpio conjunct Demi’s Sun and opposing her Moon, while at the same time squaring Ashton’s own Sun in Aqua. Right after they got together one astrologer that I was reading bloged that he thought they had the WORST synastry that he’s ever seen. They also have a Venus/Venus square in Aqua and Scorpio (I strongly suspect that in this case it’s about intense affection and physical attraction).It’s hard to judge a relationship based on hard aspects compared to soft aspects alone. It depends on the natal chart. Demi had Sun opposite Moon, Ashton has an extremely tight Sun square Uranus. They are both naturally used to the tension of hard aspects, and the Uranus theme in their synastry really makes sense with the age difference ect. Their relationship is seen as unusual, and even a little contentious. Perhaps some of the hard aspects speak of pressures outside the relationship. Imagine what it’s like with people expecting you to break up at any moment. SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT YOUR SYNASTRY The first thing that pops out at me from the synastry above is the Jupiter/Dsc conjuction which is very nice, and indicated mutual fun and laughter. Also your Sun/Mer in Leo is cojunct your Scorp friends 5th house cusp which indicates that he admires you for your Leo like qualities, and my be quite impressed with your ‘energy’. Scorp has Sun in the 7th in Scorpio rulering his 5th house cusp and you have a Leo Sun/Mer conjunction in the 8th house so you are the type of person he is drawn to. Scorp’s Asc is in Taurus the sign on your 5th cusp and this indicates to me that there is mutual admiration between you. Sun square Sun may indicate some disagreements but it’s not the end of the world. Leo is on your 8th house cusp and on his 5th house cusp so perhaps that might help you understand how the tension of the square manifests in your relationship. The Mercury/Neptune aspect indicated that you may go into a fantasy world together at times. What you say stimulates his imagination, and he as a way of lulling you into this dreamy way of thinking. There may be some mutual telepathy, and your conversations may sound a little odd to some but the two of you know what you’re going on about. With Venus/Mc there may be something about his charm, beauty and social style that you look up to and admire. Or perhaps he finds something about your public persona, reputation beautiful. This also makes sense because my friend has another very close Leo friend...he seems to love it when his Leo friends act out the Leo a lot (which, not all Scorpions are so into that!) He seems to enjoy it when we get flashy and showy and over-the-top.IP: Logged |

I notice a lot of friction with Scorpios I have sexual/romantic tension with...in one case it was very frustrating. I think the Sun square plays out differently in friendship than romance.IP: Logged |

Yeah I've noticed that there is definitely more of a tension with the fixed squares between Leo-Scorpio. But there are plenty of Leo/Scorpio Suns that get together. I know two Leo Suns who only have Scorpio friends or date only Scorpios. I've personally never dated a Scorpio Sun nor had any Scorpio sun friends myself... IP: Logged |
