Over the years of observing LLand when a person puts up their synastry it gets frustrating hearing people saying..."oh, they have this aspect, there is no way they are going to last or telling that person to run"...So, I thought I would do a study of what hard aspects show up in synastry... and see if there is a pattern. Please add you thoughts and observations!

I'm going to start off with my parents. They have been married for 34 yrs. Mom to Dad

Saturn conj Mars
Venus square Pluto
Uranus opp Sun
Uranus opp Venus
Neptune/Sun squ Sun
Neptune squ Venus
Sun conj Saturn

My Aunt and Uncle- 40 yrs married Aunt to Uncle

Sun/Venus/Mars square Sun/Mars
Saturn square Merc
Merc conj Saturn
Sun/Mars opp Moon
Merc square Moon

My Grandma and Grandpa- 65 years

Neptune opp Moon
Mars/Venus opp Mars
Saturn/Sun square Venus
Merc conj Saturn

The pattern I saw in those is that Saturn and Venus is present...

i'd love to see what this study yeilds in data.

im very curious to see the experience of successful relationships or ones that have atleast lasted more than 2 years after marriage if they married)

rather than studying the synastry charts between people who split up after a yaer or 6 months and complain about aspects.

in my opinion, astrology doesnt govern what will last and what wont, what does is desire to last.

i think aspects from saturn and outer planets are ones that will challenge just how serious each person is about the other in love. love is choice, desire is reason.

i think people emphasis on synastry being about compatibility and that deciding wether two can be together or last.

how many times do people post experiences of would-be hightlighting aspects in compatibility yet nothing yeilds, even venus-mars conjunctions.

astrology seems to just point out challenges and themes presented, but ultimately it is up to us.

thankyou so much for posting up these data's on those long lasting relationships.

you know, based on my own interpretation of how astrology works, i don't necessarily think "SATURN" is necessary for a relationship to last, not only astrologically as a reason but because that would defy to me that Love is choice when i believe it is.

i think Saturn comes up very often simply because it provides an energy that makes some one feel to stay and see what they share with the other through to the end, to whatever end that is. there is a commitment feeling type energy.in otherwords, i think saturn provokes reason - desire.

but commitment is choice, and thats why i say such isnt necessary but just common.

in our synastry we have:

Her-Me

Sun opposite Sun
Sun Conjunct NorthNode
Sun in the 7th house
Venus Oppose Venus
Venus conjunct moon
moon trine venus
Mars Trine Sun
Saturn Square venus
Venus square saturn (x2)
DSC conjunct saturn/neptune
venus trine asc
venus square neptune
IC conjunct mars
mercury conjunct dsc
Mars square mercury
Mercury square Pluto
uranus squre venus
Jupiter/Saturn/Uranus Trine Sun

i think angle rulers should be considered, aswell as house synastry, can you possibl post up their charts?

I've moon square saturn in my Natal

My moon and saturn are very hard aspected on both positive and negative way in my N chart.

My first ex marriage composite

Ooo I always like posts like these. Unfortunately, the only long term (like 10+ years) couple I have info for are my parents:

aspects under 5 degrees:
Sun square Mercury
Moon square Sun
Moon square Saturn
Mercury square Sun
Mercury square Saturn
Venus square Venus exact
Mars square Jupiter
Mars square Uranus
Jupiter square Venus
Saturn opposite Sun
Saturn square Pluto

So is 10 years what qualifies as long term? I feel as if even 5 years could qualify as long term...I may be able to add some input into this topic...I am going to look a bit deeper into the synastry of my oldest son and his fiancee...I refer to her as my daughter-in-law, because she is to me...they will be together 9 years next month...and they are 23...

I have already seen how pertinent asteroids come into play as well in strong/fated relationships...but I will post only planetary aspects, along with angles and nodes, if you wish...

But are these people happily married? Sure look at their aspects but also at their relationship to see if this is a happy marriage, to me that is most important.

I agree littlecloud, but whether a couple is happy or not, if they have been together for that long, there is something that has kept them together for that long, rather than it just ending at 'short term' relationship status...lol

I was with my ex for 12 years..

His Saturn in my 1st.
His Saturn sq my venus
his Saturn opps my Pluto
his Saturn sq my Neptune
His Saturn quix my Mars

My Saturn in his 9th (near the Mc, but far)
My Saturn sextile his moon
My Saturn sq his Pluto/Uranus
My Saturn sq his Dsc

I admit it wasnt totally happy, but I was stuck, and I was never thinking about leaving him, I was planning to always stay and try to work it out.

We really were just "stuck"... Glued..

Lioness, I'm currently in a similar situation. What happened? How did you "unglue" from each other? And are you still in contact with your ex today...if so, what is it like now?

Regarding hard aspects in long-term relationships, it doesn't necessarily mean that the relationship is doomed. For example, my boyfriend and i who have been going strong for 3 years now, we have these aspects.

moon opposing saturn
venus opposing saturn
venus square uranus
mercury square uranus
mars square jupiter

Despite those aspects, we have many positives as well. When we do feel those sparks from the hard aspects, we learn to discuss how we feel to work things out. Thanks to those positive mercury aspects He and I tend to have a lot of self-awareness(along with a strong, intimate bond) and look what is best for one another. Most of all, I believe that those hard aspects can help make a couple grow together.

Here's our chart so you can get an idea!

Saturn is the glue in a relationship and 'difficult' aspects make us grow, so it's not so bad. In my relationship with my ex our composite was full of trines and sextiles, and in the end our relationship was stagnant.

There is this old saying, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a life time."

I would much rather have people who seek out Synastry guidance, to make their own decisions about forming a unit of any kind. But in order for them to do that, they must know what to look for in the data received. Reading the pie charts requires a tremendous about of skill and ability. And Linda Goodman's site is a fabulous place for novelist to come and pick the minds of the pros.

For every question asked, there will be another. I would like for them to expand their knowledge base surrounding Synastry Astrology.

There may be an easier way to read and understand complicated Synastry pie chart aspects. Pie chart aspects can also be produced onto a basic Synastry Aspect Chart, a color coded chart. Review the sample chart at your leisure. It may help you gain even more insight than you currently have.

I once did a mini research and found that Mars in Virgo is the mars placement I attract the most. I have Asc & Saturn (5th Ruler) here.

There is a Taurus-Virgo with who I have perfect romance synastry with, except we collide. Their pSun conj my nVenus, their pMoon conj my nSun, my pMars conj their nVenus, and my pVenus conj their nMars. We also share a pMoon square pMoon.

This is someone I met in a dream six months b4 we met in person. I know they dream me, just calls me weird randomly instead of admitting to it.

With Venus & Mars in Taurus I expected a better relationship with the bull, but pretty early on a power struggle ensues, then it hits me - I don't like this sign very much. Weird.

Saturn-Venus

I share this aspect with a colleague, and almost upon meeting they wanted to become roommates. I declined. A year later the same proposition. Again I declined. Now I get the feeling things are fizzling out - I'm put out of the friend zone into someplace less intimate.

I don't see a lot of uranus hard aspects... uranus opposition pops up here and there, but overall saturn is always really present, even hard aspects.

I think a little portion of saturn is necessary in any long-therm relationship, also just because it's about discipline, and not just about romantic love, as for an example neptune and uranus.

Uranus is still really difficult to handle in my opinion, only really uranian people can handle that, uranian and mature people. Not too young and childish people.
