The following is from Galactic Times by Philip Sedgwick:

Insight Pivots Ahead ~ 16 February 2011

Yep, there are shifts ahead. You might as well include the new planets in a consultation you expediently schedule as to be tuned up for the pivots, or watch the new DVD on Haumea and changes in solar system awareness you purchased, or get a personal or relationship report with astrological things you’ll find nowhere else. Might as well, only a few weeks remaining with the nodes in Capricorn to wonder if its worth it before the impulse buying of consciousness related stuff kicks in as the nodes shift to Sag... more below. Jupiter and Eris are in Aries, be a trend setter. Match the pattern and get there first.

We’re on the verge of entering a collective attitude shift courtesy of the lunar nodes making a migration from Capricorn to Sagittarius... and good riddance. I’m so tired of hearing about how money makes the world go round and that giving greedy people more economic incentive provides jobs and is the solution to the present financial purgatory. Hell, John McCain wrote in response to one of my “save the endangered critters” e-mail form letters that he’d help only if it didn’t impinge on the local economy where the endangered critters live. Is it always about money? Isn’t it about creating a resourceful, enlightened planet chock full of people that can coexist and finally realize that we’re all on this space ship together? And with the upcoming nodal shift, it’s time to look at the real reasons behind recession to discover any flaws in collective fiscal thinking and fix them. Right?

The North Lunar Node eases into Sagittarius on the third day of March. Given that the need for jobs with fair wages and benefits still prevails as a priority, the directional marker provided by the nodes might offer a reasonable reset to recessionary thinking. Jobs will get created when mind power and innovation meet up with imagination and when the development of concepts that further Earthly progress reach sufficient clarity to become products, services and training. The “that’s a good idea, someone ought to do it,” musings get personal. It was your idea. You do it. Or, now that you conjured up this thing, here are ideas as to how you use it. As the nodes enter Sagittarius they make an immediate trek over the multi-degree high energy region that is our Galactic Center. The GC, known for spewing innovative, insightful insights from its supermassive black hole core, was recently reported to be bursting with a batch of gamma rays. Symbolically, gamma rays inspire the process of personal transformation through the observation of events not of one’s direct creation - but involvement in because of residence on this sapphire colored planet - and choosing to extract a consciousness insight that benefits personal soul growth.

The very next day heliocentric Uranus squares the heliocentric nodes of Saturn. In useful reality, a square to a planet’s nodes constitutes a moment of “fair and balanced” assessment and provides clear information as to what is working and what is not. A look at a planet’s south node inquires as to what existing structures need to be modified, adjusted or tweaked to keep up with the times. The southern node emphasis underscores what still works and campaigns to keep it while changing anything that has exceeded its usefulness. The simultaneous and equally prioritized look at the north node points out what must be obtained, developed or dreamed to sustain the course programmed into the planet’s whose nodes are being transited dharma-agenda program.

Here the planet of “disruptive change” stimulates the essence of a planet fond of its traditions and protocols. As we used to say in the Navy, “Two hundred years of tradition unmarred by progress.” Not under this transit. To be clear, Uranus passages do not occur overnight. The celestial “hints” that change must occur in life appear subtle at first. If unheeded, the intensity and frequency of “change is required” prompts increase. The lightning quick quality attributed to Uranus represents the moment of realization that a shift in life direction is required. That moment is akin to a light going on, hearing heralding trumpets or the whatever intensification of response sensors one prefers. Regardless, during such realizations the impetus for change has likely existed for a spell... and if one is stubborn, quite a spell.

So this major change indicator of collective influence culminates in the first days of March, corresponding with a life direction theme shift courtesy of the nodes. The combined influences double down, hoping to quadruple positive responses. Change you can believe in comes from the kind of change that creates valid and valuable results such that “at the end of the day,” one feels better about the life they’re living. This pattern is like the flu. It’s going around and everyone has a chance to catch it, and clearly, it’s nothing to be sneezed at.

A trend of perihelion connections follows next. Perihelion is the point where a planet is closest to the Sun. There it moves the fastest of anytime in its orbit, stimulating a “hurry up, let’s get on with it sense of urgency.” This intensification receives real physical solar support through the shortest distance, which strengthens the impact of the solar radiation. It has been more than adequately proved (more in the next GT) that when any planet’s perihelion is transited by any planet, solar activity stands likely to increase, intensifying the radiation received on Earth and enhancing the auroral light shows while resulting in anomalistic weather, satellite disruption and maybe more dropped cellular calls than normal. The most notable of perihelion influences in terms of solar eruptions: Mars.

Mars reaches his own perihelion on March 9. To offer a mundane caution, weather warnings for a couple of weeks around this time marker need to be taken with extra seriousness. This transit tends to bring radical shifts in what geographic regions have been experiencing wild weather, so hopefully, some of the soaked and saturated or snow stuck locales get a break. Other regions prepare to batten down the hatches. Days ago, it appears the orb of this transit began as the Sun erupted, casting a huge blast of energy our way. How about that for a Happy Valentine?

The collective urge of Mars to perihelion gives every person on Earth a simultaneous there’s “no time like now” and “everything that matters is more urgent and time sensitive than anytime in recent history” attitude tweak. Crowding, rushing, pushing forward without sufficient preparation or foundation typify behaviors of this pattern that oft fail to sustain desired results. Hostility and confrontation similarly leave behind ravaged results without benefit. The key is to sense urgency, feel a full sail of ship steering fervor and weigh any anchors of trepidation to allow an organic course of action that fits the collective sense of exaggerated urgency.

A week later, and the day before two major perihelion partile transits, Mercury reaches his perihelion. Seen as Gemini from the Sun’s point of view, the need for immediate and clear articulation reaches an apex. However, this apex is familiar. Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun, does his orbital thing in a fleet-footed 87.989 days. So just short of every three months (thus the emphasis on quarterly reports), we get a Mercury to perihelion surge. In fact, every forty-four days we feel the influence of Mercury being closest to the Sun or furthest from the Sun. Or to put it in other terms, roughly every six weeks a communication review is required by everyone, as “suggested” by the clever and tricky-wicket bearing Mercury. You know, the kind of review that conducts an assessment of whether word use and intensity match what a person’s really thinking. No brainer, right? Every now and again, check out the information exchange protocols to verify that your mental browser matches your spirit’s uploads and content pushes into the internet of interaction.

Now for the hugely exciting perihelion passage. On Saint Patrick’s Day, Jupiter comes to his own perihelion. Virtually simultaneously he aligns with the perihelion of Makemake. Jupiter’s perihelion promenade happens every twelve years - 11.86 years to be more precise. This transit offers a reset of beliefs, attitudes, inspirations and resulting consciousness. This next Jupiter-perihelion passage is the first time we witness this occurrence knowing that he also aligns with the solar short distance point of Makemake. The last time Jupiter executed this pivot, we did not know of Makemake. The transit of Jupiter to this perihelia pairing is exciting and promises more awareness, planetary attunement and positive social amalgamation than any Jupiter perihelion ever! As this is our first conceptual reset with Makemake in the mix, the transit could be a fantastic new beginning of global awareness.

Makemake, the primary deity of the people of Rapa Nui, seems to be developing an interpretive feeling similar to Saturn’s sense of hard core reality and Sedna’s need for physical providence and a primal sense of soulfulness. Personally, Makemake assesses choices made that impinge upon one’s wherewithal and providence, and establishes worldly awareness that includes a realization of the requirements and limits of life regarding food, shelter, and managing resources to procure life’s essentials. As well, Makemake demands that a person do a fine assessment of one’s creative resources, talents and skill sets and come up with a CV that accurately represents those attributes so others can call upon those personal abilities.

On the collective level, Makemake realizes the limits of the resources of the planet, the difficulties of reforestation, restocking waters with fish, ensuring the propagation of all species and the realization that the population of the planet, if not now, soon will unable to sustain the needs of the planet’s inhabitants. The reason we might untangle consciousness knots in relevant thoughts with this Jupiter-double perihelion passage is that while Saturn is the reality, Makemake is the reason behind the reality. Perhaps now, as reasons become clear, the source thinking can shift as delivered by the change of signs of the lunar nodes. Perhaps a shift can balance out the conflicts between humankind, the other species on the planet, and the planet’s ability to provide for all its occupants.

Following the mid month pattern, one more potent perihelion push occurs in March. Saturn aligns with the perihelion of Jupiter on the 27th. I remember back in drivers’ education my instructor cautioned that a driver should slow prior to navigating curvy roads. Braking to slow once negotiating the curves tends to cause skidding. Here we have Saturn’s natural consideration and deliberation addressing Jupiter’s need for speed and inflamed sense of urgency. This transit is a skid check. Verify that speed does not exceed ability, that all wheels are on the road, and that environmental conditions will not cause hydroplaning. Ensure your vehicle is in gear and that you are in charge of the speed and that you have sufficient traction. While a theory exists that the easiest, injury-free way to make it down a hillside covered with loose stones inclined to shift underfoot is to run. With your foot on the ground for less time, the probability of falling decreases, or so says the poda-postulate. “Interesting theory,” exclaims the node in Sagittarius. “Remind me to check back and see how that worked out for you.” Meanwhile, with the Saturn to Jupiter’s perihelion transit, why not use cautious side steps for maximum foot gripping while on precarious turf and navigating supercharged priorities?

True, the feeling of Saturn to Jupiter’s perihelion is one of being unable to get there fast enough. While expediency is indeed a key, there’s also a matter of competence, a fully conceived agenda, a coherent and clearly plotted course such that one can accomplish the most while keeping track of the Sagittarian high road thing demanded by the nodal change.

Just a reminder that if you’re looking to spot exact events on these heliocentric marker dates, they may not be there. More, heliocentric transits indicate shifts in consciousness either personal or collective that react to events of the past or condition attitudes that impact events to come. As well, just because a heliocentric effect exists, given its inobviousness to Earthly observers, there is no guarantee that the best gets extracted. It requires perseverance in the messages by those with solar centered inklings.

Looking ahead, there are more planetary pivots seen by the Sun that do not show up in geocentric (Western and Vedic) systems; these markers occur around aphelion - the most-distant point from the Sun, instead of the closest orbital contact to the Sun. In the short term, Venus puts a sash around her aphelion (April 18), Mercury hits his next 44-day marker, also to aphelion on April 29. Less than a month later, another biggie, especially in the evolutions of collective world affairs, Jupiter aligns with Pluto’s aphelion on May 27th. Stay tuned. That’s gonna be a good one.

Thanks Glaucus!

I have a question regarding this month's full moon. Several astrologers said that yesterday (the 16th) was the day of the full moon (in leo) however, most calendars marked February 18th as the day of the full moon. Which day is it?
