I had something really bizarre happen about a month ago. There is this school friend I've known since 5th grade who grew up down the street from me. I was visiting my mother's house (our old neighborhood) when a lady walked up and identified herself as his mother. She told me he was in prison and had been asking her to come over and give me his address. I was shocked! I graduated high school almost 4 years ago and it was just... crazy! I mean it's not surprising, he always in trouble and stuff like that. But he is so sweet. Just one of those people you've known forever.

Anyway, after winning the argument against my boyfriend, I wrote him a great long letter and even asked if he knew his birth time information (I couldn't help myself!). I finally got a letter back this morning!

He actually did know his information and here is his chart.

He is literally a Cancer/Gemini cusper, the sun being in 0 Cancer. I started reading about the cusp and it's ridiculously on. But how do I interpret his moon in relation to his cancer/gem cusp?

Cool
born on Summer Solstice

I really don't believe in the cusp stuff.

His Sun is in just 1 sign, Cancer.

Also..his Ascendant, Mercury and Jupiter are in Gemini any way.

Mercury in its own sign, Gemini is a strong placement for Mercury.

With Ascendant in Gemini, Mercury is his chart ruler.

My late maternal grandfather was born on June 22nd, and he had Sun in Cancer and retrograde Mercury in Gemini which conjunct his Sun which gave him affinity with Sun in Gemini which my mother has. She has Mercury,Venus,Jupiter,Uranus, and Ascendant in Cancer. Her birthday is June 13th.

A lot of people born in a certain sunsign will have the planets that orbit near the Sun (Mercury,Venus) in a sign other than the Sunsign. A lot of them will have Mercury in the sign before or after the sign that the Sun is in.

With his Moon in Capricorn
Moon is in detriment

Capricorn

cardinal earth - action and initiation involving practical and material realm

ruled by Saturn - structured,discipline,practical,ambitious,serious

Here is interpretation

Sun in Cancer/Moon in Capricorn
from Maurice Fernandez's ASTROLOGY AND THE EVOLUTIONARY OF CONSCIOUSNESS
Volume One: Astrology Fundamentals, the Moon, the Sun, and the Evolutionary Levels of Consciousness.

Orientation:
Seeking strength and wisdom to address emotional needs and maturation processes the perceived right way in the hope of securing a healthy development while striving to establish supportive conditions for creative expression and development.

Outcome: A protective, patient, and relatively conservative personality that is inspired by ancestral heritage and strives to find the appropriate rhythm of maturation to guarantee their life unfolds safely and productively.

That whole Sunsign cusp thing is about coming up with an explanation of people born on the day that changes signs

It's usually a person that doesn't know his/her birthtime, and so he doesn't know if his/her Sun is in a certain sign or the next sign.

Many people with Sun in a certain sunsign have the planets that orbit near the Sun (Mercury,Venus) in the next sign or the sign before. That would help them relate to having those sign traits, making them think that are born on the cusp. These people may not know that Astrology goes beyond Sunsigns as well as not know their birthtimes.

Cusp actually pertains to house cusps.

Astrology started out with whole sign house system. Therefore the house cusp was also the sign cusp. Now some astrologers apply cusp to sign even though they don't use whole sign house system.

I have that Moon/Mars Opposition. Not the same element or house or anything. But I can tell you that how he acts and how he feels are hard to convey sometimes.
