What orbs do you use? Planetary, north node and all that. Same for synastry?

Hi LC,
In general for Sun Moon and angles, 10 degrees - for the conjunctions.
For others, trines, opps, squares, about 6 or so. Sextiles/Inconjunct (quincunx) /semisextile 4.
Out of sign aspects I tend to use smaller orbs.
In general I start out looking at aspects that are 3 degrees or less, then branch out.

Refer to this article re: Gauquelin sectors

What about you?

You would use a 10 degree for an NN conjunction? Or just if it was conjunct an angle? I had the impression that was really wide.

I would say I use fairly the same that you do. 10 is my max orb. I pay more attention to smaller orbs and wider orbs are like the color blue in really black hair that you don't see, if that analogy made sense. For slower moving planets/objects smaller orbs at least 5 and under. I go fairly wide with trines...until a 9 but the same concept with the conjunctions.

I then take into consideration the house rulers especially chart rulers and would accept wide orbs in this case because of the importance of the planets.

Interesting link, thanks. I quickly skimmed it but I'm a bit lost as to his theories to begin with so I'll have to research it a bit more.

Really?! I'm surprised. From what I gather you're a rather good chart reader, which is why I asked you about orbs to begin with.

Another thing I'm curious about what chart type do you use for people born in more polar countries?

Yes, really!

Polar regions? Never thought about it, and won't 'til I encounter one who stirs my interest.

that's how it usually happens

I'm surprised about the NN because I'm used to people being more strict on the orbs, considering 5 degrees too big. So I suppose considering it's an angle it's more of a strong point, same with the NN...ok interesting. Definitely makes me feel better that I'm not the only that looks at 10 degree orbs.
