Hello all. I am a 31 y.o. Leap Year Day Pisces. My ascendant is Cancer and my moon is in Virgo. My question is this: What is a black veil? I was born with one and at least 2 of my daughters were also born with it. I know it came from my father's side but no one will tell me what it is or what the purpose is. Being a Pisces I'm naturally intuitive to say the least. But I can feel that there is more and I need to know, so, that I can prepare my children. Thank you all in advance. =)------------------ I am a child of Karma. IP: Logged |

How do you determine whether one is born with a black veil or not?IP: Logged |

Rajji if it's what I think it is- where a baby is born with placenta on their face...you'd have to ask someone there such as a doc or mom or something.IP: Logged |

Thanks Tx girl..i thought it meant some kind astrological significance. This is what I found quote ------------------------------------------- Some cultures consider it to be a sign of good luck. Western doctors seem to think it is a personal insult. All it *really* means is that the amniotic sac didn't break during labor, so it either breaks on its own or is broken after the baby is born. It protects her/him from infection, so it is actually a good thing.
Sometimes a piece of the amniotic sac sticks to the baby's head; it looks like the baby has a veil or hood over its head. In traditional folklore, this veil (or caul) is supposed to indicate that the child is 'touched' or imbued with supernatural power. The exact nature of this power varies depending on who's telling the story, but usually includes an unusual sensitivity to supernatural phenomena (like ghosts) and either precognition (seeing the future) or clairvoyance (seeing things that are far away).
In more recent decades, 'touched' has come to suggest mild insanity rather than psychic power; in fairness, the two may be hard to distinguish. In some religions, they believe that we lived up in heaven before we came to Earth. When you are born with a veil, it just means that once sent to Earth, you don't remember anything about being up in heaven. Because some religions believe you pass by what is called a "Veil" and then you forget that past "life" in heaven. I hope that makes sense to you. lol -------------------------------------------- IP: Logged |

This is interesting- some folk lore tells us that in order to prevent the veiled child from seeing ghosts, the caul must be kept as long as he lives. Some say that person who loses his caul can still see and hear ghosts but cannot talk to them. His health and well being are entirely dependent on the caul.If it is torn he dies, when he is ill, it is damp and when he is well it is firm. Many midwives it seems are known to steal the veils in order to sell. Anybody who lost theirs can buy one from a doctor.IP: Logged |

I could be wrong here but I think it's a baby who is born with a caul.A Black Veil is more like an old wives tale or superstition but it is basically a symbol of good luck or good fortune. Let's put out an SOS for Lexx (she'll be able to help you better than I can) here are a couple of links http://www.healingwiseforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11660&highlight=caul http://www.jstor.org/pss/539446 IP: Logged |

I was born with one but one of the nurses stole it...my mum learnt later, because it was a caesarian birth and she missed some of the procedure.IP: Logged |

Hello all and thank you for your speedy replies. I however was not born with a caul. I was born with a Black Veil. And although some may say it's the same, it is not. A caul can be removed. The Black Veil can NOT be removed. Although I must say I do share some of the same gifts as one born with a caul. I can see, feel and hear spirits. They communicate with me - A LOT! LOL But that's just the tip of the iceberg. ------------------ I am a child of Karma. IP: Logged |
