Please help with this question: "This week (the vernal equinox), the sun is clearly not in Aries. It is in Pisces, or a small minority would say it is in Aquarius. So, if today is my birthday, how can I be an Aries? It seems like the whole premise of astrology is wrong, if it doesn't take into account precession of the equinoxes. Is there a system of astrology that does take into account precession of the equinoxes?"
Thanks!

The tropical zodiac is based on seasons with the idea that the start of spring is the start of aries and the start of winter is capricorn.

Sidereal zodiac (what vedic astrologers use) takes into account the precession of the equinoxes.

Tbh, I wouldn't even say that the Sidereal zodiac is more correct because the real Galactic Zodiac is comprised of constellations of varying sizes and are either much smaller than 30 degrees (the normal size of a sign) or much larger.

The earth, while spinning on its axis, is also wobbling (like a spinning top when it begins to lose momentum). One revolution caused by this wobbling effect takes approximately 26,000 years, and each year it causes the orbit of the earth to return slightly short of where it was the previous year (in relation to the Sun). This causes the nightly constellation backdrop to slowly shift.

THIS HAS NO RELEVANCE TO WESTERN ASTROLOGY.

Western astrology (based on the Tropical Zodiac) is a GEOCENTRIC study, with the sun, moon, and planets in REFERENCE TO THE EARTH.

The "Precession of the Equinoxes" relates to the earth in REFERENCE TO THE SUN, and is hence, a HELIOCENTRIC study.

The Tropical Zodiac, used by western astrology ("The Moon is transiting through..." or "I was born with Saturn in...") has absolutely zero connection to precession.

If anyone challenges western astrology on the grounds of Precession, just remember: Tropical Zodiac = Geocentricity = Planetary Placements. Precession = Heliocentricity = Constellations.
