Venus to me has always been an "earth" planet. When I first began to study astrology, I originally read it was Virgos ruling planet, and it is also given to Taurus. It is the planet of love, and it is materialistic, just like the Goddess Aphrodite. If I were to look at the planet itself, it looks just like Earth and is one step away from being able to hold human, from being able to hold EARTH life.Mercury, who rules Gemini, is an air planet, given to an air sign. To give it to an earth sign is against Mercury's nature and would make Virgo feel uncomfortable, just as if you give Venus to Libra, an earth planet to an air sign. I don't understand why Mercury is given to Virgo and Venus is given to Libra nowadays, it just seems so logical to give Venus to Virgo and Mercury to Libra. ------------------ What happens on Venus stays on Venus -Nasa IP: Logged |

Well I've never heard anything about Venus being the closest to earth, it was always mars. Libra has more symbols of love than Virgo. Marriage, partnership...libra rules that so I see why libra would be ruled by venus and not virgo. IP: Logged |

i mean, venus looks like earth, if you were to compare them, they'r close in size and they are both blue beauties, not proximity to earth------------------ What happens on Venus stays on Venus -Nasa IP: Logged |

You know, it seems like every deck of Tarot Cards I used (I had to stop because it got crazy) would use the Empress to represent Virgo to me. I believe every reader has a different relationship with the deck and mine mostly used the Empress for this purpose. If you look at the Empress card it has Venus' symbol on it. I always used to wonder if it was somehow involved. I don't necessarily think that Venus would primarily replace Mercury as Virgo's ruling planet, however and this woman I know is exactly the reason why. I have 3 Pisces in the inner planets of my chart. Because of this I was of course drawn via some sort of deep polaric relationship to this woman who was a Virgo Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Venus. NERVOUS! She worries about everything and is so passive aggressive you'd never believe it. She's so good with animals and was a gymnast for like 15 years (exceptionally good, too). She is one of my very favorite people and would help someone who just killed her dog. I love her very much and will gladly run to Sonic to get her a slushy during happy hour so she can have the store to herself and try to beat me in sales for the month anytime she wants.LOVE YOU, EM!! I find Mercury bit awkard in Libra; although, while dealing with theory,I would never think of that. Generally,I find Virgo to be bit of work, and any planet connected to it. I always associate Saturn first with Libra;and I find LibraVenus a very good position, after exploring it through different charts.IP: Logged |

thats so cute curbro i always enjoy ur posts!!virgos and Librans have so much in common. however one BIG difference is that virgos are judgmental, picky, always commenting on others, etc.. while librans can never do that.. if I'm trying to gossip it would go something like this: "OMG did you see what she's wearing?!! ... actualy you kno what i think its kinda cute, i wish i can pull it off..." indecisevness is a Libran trait, and Venus (or aphrodite) herself couldnt make up her mind. she fell in love with Mars but was married to Hephaistus.. us librans are most def. Venus' little babies, we already share her with the bulls i dont mind sharing her with the virgins.. IP: Logged |

Venus,as deity of Roman Pantheon, was also goddess of gardnening; having beautiful home; Aphrodite wasn't... Venus,Virgos r picky... Did u know that elegant in its core has meaning of picky, one who chooses carefully; And elegance is something of a Libra hallmark again, those mixed signals IP: Logged |

in my opinion, venus is libran. taurus represents business, materials, and all that . but venus is way more than that. Venus as a planet has one astrological role in a persons chart - it defines their principles and ethics in love, their love nature. think the philosophy - "Treat others how you want to be treated" - fairness, equality, showing love. taurus has nothing to do with that. venus is about relationship interaction , its about equality, fairness, and companionship (relationship) Libra's are actually just as materialistic just not expressive of it when it comes to physical materials, its more "mental" which makes more sense. Libra will wear t shirts with big logos on it of brands, they like to show off the beauty of things, be it art, clothes, jewellry and accessories. its less about money and more about "looks" and "style" with this sign. now moving onto my personal theory.
in my personal theory, i believe that the earth and water signs, are simply like the "elder" experienced versions, of the fire and air signs. like this - aries = scorpio - libra = taurus - gemini = virgo - Sagittarius = Pisces Cancer = Leo Aquarius = Capricorn we all know the zodiac goes around like this in order -
aries taurus gemini cancer leo virgo libra scorpio sagittarius capricorn aquarius pisces but if you check out my theory, and start as Scorpio as the "elder" aries / mars sign, the chart works the elder way round (backwards) Scorpio Libra Virgo Leo Cancer Gemini Taurus Aries Pisces Aquarius Capricorn Sagittarius most people will shoot this theory down, but i dont have time or this topic to write about it in, but just think of taurus as the earth elder venus virgo as the earth elder mercury scorpio as the elder aries / mars Cancer the elder leo (think creativy, what does cancer do? babies, creativity.) According to your theory or many others Pisces are one of the oldest souls. So it is to say that as the soul grows they become more aware of beauty in the world and get too much attached to it so they start to have the traits of Pisces. If we assume that as the soul gets "elder" it also become "wiser" and "better" soul. So Scorpio i think can not be elder soul. It is not definitely young but it is not very old. None of these two traits are not easily seen in Scorpio. Cancer may make sense for "better" soul but not very wise. So Pisces makes sense. But Sagittarus nearly have both traits so i think they are balanced in some way. Remember zodiac, Aries rules 1st house so you life journey starts with passion, excited, eager, careless and your journey ends with dreams, hopes and ideals(pisces). I think last four signs are the oldest souls and none of them have "Venus" traits. So Venus is Libran i guess. Venus in Virgo is the worst place to have in a natal chart so Virgo is irrelevant i think. IP: Logged |

I think I've read this before too, Ami. I agree that Virgo has some Venus like qualities in that they usually try to look good and sometimes get hung on decisions. But, for me, Venus is to Libra as Mercury is to Virgo. It's odd that these two planets would be involved because my chart actually goes, Pisces, Aries, Pisces, Aries. Lol. I'm the exact opposite of both signs. I tend to get along more easily with Virgo than Libra, though. Maybe it's because the only Air sign I have is Chiron in Gemini. Gemini and Sagittarius are even intercepted in my houses system as well which I wonder about. If Chiron is in Gemini but I don't have a house there, what does that mean?

Well, considering that Venus in Virgo is in its fall, I never think of Venus fitting with Virgo at all.Virgo is too discriminating. IP: Logged |

And secondly, Venus needs to rule a masculine sign as well as a feminine sign. If you've noticed the original planets (not luminaries) all rule a feminine AND masculine sign:Mercury: Gem (m) & Virgo (f) Venus: Libra (m) & Taurus (f) Mars: Aries (m) & Scorpio (f) Jupiter: Sag (m) & Pisces (f) Saturn: Aqua (m) & Capricorn (f) To reassign sign rulerships throws off the balance. No. When you say "elder", you mean "feminine." In terms of signs being the "elders" of others, it works from Aries to Pisces. Aquarius is the "elder" of Capricorn. Sagittarius is not an elder of Cap or Aqua, but definitely of Scorpio and Libra. Pisces is the "oldest." IP: Logged |

im not sure you got it, my own theory doesnt asserrt sagittarius as an elder of capricorn or aquarius, it says its the younger of pisces.Aries libra opposition = Scorpio/Taurus Gemini Sag opposition = virgo/pisces Cancer Capricorn opposition = Leo / Aquarius etc. as i said, its my own theory, i dont follow the astrologers " oldest soul = pisces" stuff. i also don't believe the elder versions are "wiser", just older. to me, i see it. virgo is like gemini to me, and aquarius and capricorn are similar to me, they are both the detatched cold signs, opposite the warmer "leo/ cancer" signs. leo and cancer are similar to me too. the venus = taurus/libra is obvious part, as is the gemini/virgo. You already have one merc in air: Gemini. You need to balance it with one in earth. Since air and earth are the thinking signs.IP: Logged |

I'm a virgo sun but my moon, venus and mercury is in libra and I like it like that lol. I get the best of both worlds. I'm grounded, and at the same time purely libran too. I think venus relates more to libra as libra is all about love, partnership, balance, giving etc IP: Logged |

gives it some merit, this was driving me crazy but I wasn't sure how/why. Thanks for clearing this up. Also, you just cracked my brain wide open (not like the "this is your brain on drugs lady, either).IP: Logged |

I totally agree with Venus being an earth planet and Mercury being an air planet. I also think that each sign should have its own ruler. In my opinion: Venus rules Taurus Mercury rules Gemini Ceres rules Virgo Pallas rules Libra IP: Logged | |
