As much as i hate to say it astro.com

Other can miss out dst, pms, and all other acronyms that mean something to do with changing the time based on the time of year.

Drinking coffee late at night when studying thousands of charts. A good brand!

The *only way* astro.com could be off is if you're asc is right on the cusp, and i dont mean a degree off i meant like right on it, then you can plug in the coordinates for the specific address you were born just to double check but this is rare.

Coffee's right, sorry to discredit your special person, stay with astro.com

I am a Sagi ascendent all right but then my sun sign is also Sagi. What a confusion. So the traits could come from either one. Phewww! I guess the difference in our family astrologer's chart and astro.com chart is because of the difference in Indian method and Placidus method. Again, my Sun is in 12th according to Indian and that description fits me. But if i use the astro one the sun falls in sagi. Now i am nicely confused as to which one to follow. Any outstanding perspective that can help me to differentiate?

I think what you've got there is not a problem of ascendant calculations, but people using two different zodiacs.

Your family friend astrologer is most likely using the siderial zodiac - Vedic Astrology, as that is what is mostly practiced in India.

Astro.com is a site for Western Astrology, which uses the geocentric zodiac.

Hence you are getting two ascendants.

Try this, go Astro.com and go to extended chart selection. Under options on the 'Zodiac:' tab choose 'Hindi/Lahiri (siderial)
and see if the resulting chart looks like the one your family friend drew up for you with the capricorn ascendant?

If this is the case, then both ascendants are correct for you - they are just for two different zodiac systems.

Thank youuuuuuuuuuu soooooooooooo much! You made my day. Redstar, you came like a star in a dark night to guide me on my way. Thanks tons. I did what you suggested and my ascendent is Sagi only as the family astrologer mentioned. And everything else in place. I wanted to know my MC,IC and DSC which other vedic online charts dont show. So i was trying in western. On astro as everyone above kindly suggested it. But it just wasn't working. Now everything i.e. planets etc has fallen in place alongwith my mind and heart. . Gr8 and Thank you everybody.
