Hiya

The title says it all really, it is a friend's birthday soon and we don't normally buy each other much but I thought I'd make him a nice (concise) natal chart. He isn't in to astrology himself, but seemed interested when I talked about it. He's given me his birth time etc and thinks I'm just going to look it up - I thought it might be nicer if I actually drew the chart and presented it for his birthday.

Any tips or experience of how this works well (or doesn't work well!)?

What's the best way to draw the wheel and fill in all the bits?

Thanks so much,
Rachel x

Why don't you use the chart at Astrodienst? You could print it out in color and also copy/paste all the descriptions of each planet/house placing and give it to him in a nice homemade book format?

There are several charts you could draw. I think it'd be cool to see his synastry if he had a significant other. Those are always fun.

You might do his tropical with sabian symbols which can sometimes allude past lives and are just cool to begin with. Then there's heliocentric which is supposed to be your higher self. Draconic is supposed to be past life influences you carry with you into this life. When I was younger, everyone thought I was gemini or pisces which is my draconic ascendant and moon.

I'd also see if you can find a really cool description for his north node and the house. I find most people find the nodes highly meaningful even if they don't believe in astrology. With that the aspects to the north and south node are very indicative. Should you have past lives together it is more likely to show there. For example, my husband from my last life and I had a venus conj south node double whammy.

You can get sabian symbols here http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html

Thanks JoJo and Mochai - really interesting ideas, and I hadn't included the nodes, I will do that now.
