I, like many other astrologers, just ignore this....

for example...

I have mercury in sagitarius, which is in debilitation...however

my IQ is 145...and I was nearly valevictorian...

my spelling sucks
but oh well..

So....I have just proven that mercury in sagitarius is not debilitated...

I have jupiter in capricorn...

at school i was known as one of the most generous kids, in college I shared all my ganj...and I have trouble resiting the urge to tip well...too well sometimes...

So...I have just proven that jupiter is not in fall in capricorn...

so this thread proves traditional astrology is wrong..

do you agree with the objective evidence, and if so...list your subjective reasons.

Actually OP you haven't really proven anything statistics wise. If this were a study, the n (sample size) of 1 would be too small to determine a conclusion one way or the other...

However I am inclined to believe your supposition because I know many people with planets in detriment (or conversely exalted) who don't show limitations of the planet (or enhancement of the planet's attributes in the case of exaltation).

Well Road
Perhaps you are seeing debilitation in too narrow of a fashion.
I am no expert ,as you know.
However,my sense is that your focus may be too narrow.

I have Mars in Cancer in the Fall.
My "theory "is about the easy "use" of the planets.
For example, my Mars involves a hard "use" of my drive. If someone looked from the outside, they may not see it.
*I* may not even be aware of it. It is the sense that one has to force usage of the planet rather than an easy flow.
Does THAT fit with you or not,Road?
That is how I see debilitation of planets.

I do not like traditional astrology. You only have to look at them with their head in the sand with not using the outer planets.

Strength of planets should be done by aspect, where conjunction is the best aspect and opposition is the worst aspect. An example being Mars strong in Aries, it's home sign.
Mars should be weakest in it's opposite sign of Libra, while in Taurus and Pisces is great due to the semi-sextile aspect.

This does bring up a problem with Venus and Mercury which have rulership over 2 signs each. None too sure how to work this one, but nothing major to put me off not using traditional ways and using current ways.

thank youa ll for agreeing with me...ami you are right i focus too much, like an arrow, or an archer aiming an arrow, and i try to destroy arguments of others all the time

but mercury is not debilitated in sagitarius...it used to be because people with my bitting intellect would be murdered...i am teh opposite of osama been laden, i am a freespeaking thinker, but people would want to see me dead for shattering their false rituals and traditions.

Your bad spelling I would think is a manifestation of Mercury in Sag (big picture thinking vs focusing on details).

Anyway, domiciles and exaltations just means its easier to express the typical attributes of the planet itself. Like for example, Venus is domicile in Libra because Libra is charming and social, an easy place for Venus to express itself. Venus in Aries isn't BAD but it makes the native less Venusian. How can Venus express itself when its in competative Aries?

Mercury in Sag makes you less able to focus mental energy. It doesn't make you dumb (I have Mercury in accidental detriment in 9th and I ain't dumb). I have Venus exalted in Pisces and it helps me see the beauty in almost everything.

Mercury in detriment doesn't make someone dumb. The exaltation/rulership/detriment/fall system shows how well a planet expresses ITSELF in a given position.

So Mercury in Sagitarius or Pisces finds expressing itself more difficult than Mercury in Gemini or Virgo. Sometimes Mercury in Sagitarius has to work hard to be understood and heard.

Yes Nightingale
You expressed what I was trying to say.For me I have Mercury in Gemini. My Mercury feels easy like a friend with whom you have an easy rapport.
My Mars in Cancer feels like I have to drag him kicking and screaming when I have to stand up for myself.
Basic drive is a push, too lol

I think it is the EASE of use, ease of expression, ease of flow which is the issue here not intelligence or ambition
I was very driven to achieve in school so I was ambitious,in that sense.
Road is a genius,as far as I am concerned so intelligence is not the issue at all.

I guess this is true, earlier today someone said that if i were perfect at my job she'd wonder why i was there..

I froze like a dear

and thought WTF is that suppose to mean

later it dawned on me, because i'm new in a corporate environment she'd probably think i was a spy...

however maybe she'd think i was too smart

either way a trivial matter ate up all my time from the office to the car in the lot

how lame.

DEAR DIARY

where should i put myself.
