Ok I'm a gemini sun with mercury in Cancer...I know my ruling planet is mercury so this is pretty important but why am I always attracted or start talking to guys with mercury in Libra?? I know in venus/mars squares it can be pretty hot...does the same apply with mercury or is it just a big mess waiting to happen?!

Perhaps with your gemini sun (or other planets in gem) it might mitigate the effect? Because I also have a Cancer Mercury, but with a Cancer Sun and communication with Libra Mercuries for me have always left me rubbing my temples.

They do me as well...but in the beginning when I don't know what their mercury sign is, its fun and flirty lol. I have sun and mars in gemini btw
