Robert Hand is good, I have planets in aspect and planets in composite.

I also have a few of the THE ONLY WAY TO LEARN ASTROLOGY series. The horary one is good.

Also an astrological symbolism book. It just lists things that are associated with planets, signs, and houses.

Thank you
who writes The only way to learn astrology series?

Also does anyone keep notebooks? How do you reference what you learned? Is it all in your head or do you write it down?

i keep it all in my head.. well whatever sticks.

i have probably 70 astrology books and most of them are general natal aspect books. reason i have so many is because i'm always curious to see the slight differences in peoples' way of perceiving the aspects, so i pretty much buy anything i find in the second hand store.

my fave is the big thick councelling book my noel tyl but i only made it like a 10th of the way through (someday i'll tackle that again). i love the node books by jan spiller, and i have this other one by her called 'spiritual astrology' about eclipses that is really really interesting.

i also really like allen oken(?)'s complete astrology book as it goes into exhaustive detail about each sign, the history, the symbolism, and is well written.

i wish i had even one synastry book. i do not. i'm not even sure what good ones are available.

Thanks-I have a good list to work with. Does anyone know of any bookstores in NYC that specialize in astrology/new age subjects. I would think they exist?

If you'd like something in the mail "The Mountain Astrologer" is the best (and only?) astro magazine. It'll cost you some bucks of course. Subscribe at the site. Barnes & Noble sometimes carries it, though.

For synastry: I have a book by Steven Arroyo that I accidentally purchased, because I thought it was another book by him that someone recommended once. Anyways, its called "Person-to-Person Astrology" and it pretty much reminds you of the way you *should* start out with synastry before you go comparing interaspects. haha

And also--->> Love Signs by Linda Goodman. You'll never find another that has such a 3D grasp on simple sun sign compatibility than she.

For basic astrology:

I also recently bought "Archetypes of The Zodiac" by Kathleen Burt and I'm personally impressed. Its interesting enough for the experienced, and basic enough for the beginner so that one can understand how the 12 sign energies of the zodiac can be applied in RL.

I also found this book on the discount rack at Barnes and Noble called "Parker's Astrology" and it has almost everything: the basics, how to draw your own chart, synastry, horary, midpoint astrology, and placement interps too.
