If you have a planet in the first house,then you have another house which serves the first house.Check which other cusp has the sign which rules the planet in your first house.
For example,I have Saturn in the 1st house. I have Capricorn on the 3rd house cusp.
So ,the 3rd house serves the 1st house.
The 1st house is your ASC,mask, outer self, the drawbridge to the house,rather than the house itself.You wear your ASC as you interface with society.People see your ASC at first glance.
I have come up with a funny list. Tell me what you think.

If the 1st house serves the 1st house i.e your ASC ruler is IN the first house,you are self centered.
You are self centered in more of a childish way rather than out and out narcissitic way so people put up with it and laugh you off.
However,you can get annoying.------------------

If your 2nd house ruler is in the 1st house, you can try to buy friends.You flash money and gifts around to this end.If the 3rd house ruler is in the first ,you are social and chatty as a way of bonding , fitting in and making your place in society.
If your 4th house ruler is in the 1st,you use your home as social currency.You entertain but down deep you are trying to impress people with your home like one does when one flashes a diamond ring .

If your 6th house ruler is in the 1st you want to appear hard working but you may not be. You want to appear a service oriented person but may not care down deep lol

Most people want to keep their 8th house self a secret.It is by nature private.

This is fun, Ami! This all applies to me in a way. :-) Mercury is my ASC ruler AND it also rules Gemini which doesn't lie on any cusp...so that means that it doesn't count, does it?
