Topic: So, What Happened With Lindaland?

As many of you know, the traffic here has increased substantially lately. Well, this combined wih the Banners added a stress load to the server, and the host automatically suspended us. Lindaland was affecting the other sites on the shared server. I had no way to warn or notify people other than Facebook, because they gave me no warning. We now have to consider the possibility of getting a dedicated server, which I guess we really do need. Anyway, if you have a Facebook account, you can always keep up with the goings on of Lindaland by searching for the Lindaland group and sending me a request to join.IP: Logged |

Can the banners be stored on the same LL server? This way, there will not be any extra traffic from having to pull in the data from the banner server on every page refresh. IP: Logged |

Hi Randall,I am very glad you are getting so much traffic. I recently had attended a seminar on cloud computing. Basically where Amazon provides you service on their servers and they only charge on how many people came. If you had fluctuating traffic then it helps. It is cost effective as they already have servers. They can handle lot of traffic.
You can buy as many servers as you want in less money. http://aws.amazon.com/what-is-aws/ I am not selling anything, just thought you might want to know about one more technology.
New stuff! They did talk about content being on their sites and in their format.If you decide not to continue in the future with them, they give you backup on hard drive. Hope you look at pros and cons and decide for yourself.Maybe you can attend their events if they are near you. We did missed Lindaland but we knew it would be back. Thanks IP: Logged |

I always wondered why can't we just host it are self using wamp or other server software?.Can't we just get a second hand i7 desktop then convert it into a server? I'm almost already reading to donate my p4 or quad desktop, to lindaland to be converted into a server. But an i7 whould be better. ----------------------------------------
