What aspects can show this in the natal chart? Planets in 9th house? Planets in Saggitarius? For example I have Sun (Cancer) and Mercury (Leo) in 9th house. I have Saturn and Uranus in Saggitarius. Thanks.

Yea, Sadge, 9th, Jupiter.

My 9th house ruler (using Placidus) is in Sagittarius and it's placed in the 5th, my 7th house ruler is also in Sagittarius in the 5th, the dispositor of my Sun is in Sagittarius in the 5th, and I've traveled abroad for pleasure and love more than a few times, I also have Jupiter in an angular house.

A lady I knew who was obsessed with foreign travel and made it a priority to fill up her passport every 10 yrs before it expired had,
-empty 9th
-Sagittarius on the 2nd house cusp, 2nd house being personal resources and showing what we like to spend our money on and how, she had a lot of money and loved to travel, was also very lucky with gambling
-Venus in Sagittarius in the 2nd
-Jupiter is in the 3rd meaning she likes to have her stomping grounds in foreign locales, she thought a lot on planning her trips and would scour newspapers for travel deals, go to bookshops to buy travel guides all the time
-9th house ruler is the Moon in the 4th, she traveled a lot to Ireland where her mother's and father's family is from, so travel involves visiting family or feeling closer to home, she also had a lot of foreign exchange students stay with her in the U.S. when she wasn't traveling abroad
-ruler of the 9th trine ruler of the 11th, loved to travel in tour groups, she would often jet off and not tell anyone where she was going, only to notify her office that she was going on vacation, and no one knew when she'd be back: ruler of the 11th in the 12th, mercury in the 12th, ruler of the 5th in the 12th, ruler of the 8th in the 12th, neptune in the 12th, her h12 ruler is also that Venus in Sagittarius

Another person who has traveled extensively, also with a good size bank account,
-Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury in the 9th
-h1, h2, h3, h4, h11, h12 rulers placed in the 9th
-nothing in Sagittarius
-9th house ruler is conj IC

(the above 2 traveled a lot together)

A well known person who's traveled a lot for his career and also gone on numerous spiritual retreats in foreign countries,
-nothing in Sadge or the 9th
-Sadge rules the 4th, Jupiter is in the 10th, conj Uranus
-Venus in Capricorn in the 4th rules both the house of personal resources 2nd and the house of travel 9th, it is opposed to Jupiter in the 10th which rules the IC
-Grand cross of Venus opp Jupiter/Uranus sq Mars opp Neptune in Cardinal signs

All using Placidus, tyvm

i have a Sagittarius Stellium with AC and Sun there, Saturn in the 9th, and Jupiter is in the 7th opposing the Stellium. 9th house ruler is Sun.

i left the place i was born in and lived elsewhere since then. travelled a lot too but not enough. i wonder if it's Jupiter the chart ruler in the 7th, i seem to make myself at home wherever i land quickly. i don't feel foreign. i don't plan to go back to where i came from.

That would be my problem. I feel like a stranger in my own country and always felt a DEEP attraction for foreign cultures etc. Do I have a mental problem?

Sun in Cancer in the 9th would be one factor, Sun in Cancer is usually deeply tied to its roots or its home country, but in the 9th the deep tie may be elsewhere. I wonder what the Moon is doing as its dispositor of the Sun so it may give more info as to feeling not at home where you are.

Is there some leaning to do aid work or teaching or nurse in a foreign country?

that's interesting, Lonake, do you think my Jupiter in Cancer has the same effect? that would solve the mystery of my life time. i literally felt foreign from the moment i was born (well, more or less). even when i didn't have the concept of foreign countries, i had this strong sense that i was supposed to be elsewhere. i came to a conclusion i was just born in a wrong country. i don't feel any association with the place i was born in. it's just another country to me.

eta: and that Jupiter is in opposition to my Sagittarius Sun.

I always wanted to go overseas and travel, was never happy where I am. Here's my chart, could it be due to the uranus on the mc?

My karma asteriod is in Sag.

My Mars is in 3rd house exalted in Capricorn. Now... I had short journeys years ago but I never left my country. But dunno why I've always considered 3rd house the house of writing and communication.

Lio, Maybe Neptune is the one who makes you feel that way? Don't you think?

Air influence. 'Why would I have to love/live where was I born? Just because I was born there? ' To be hampered by some random fact I had no saying on... So,H3 Stellium, early, strong opinions, quite diffrent from group, cuz Uranus is there. Merc is H12,it's ruling my H9. I don't feel foreign at all.

I feel like this too. I have jupiter in cancer (h9) trine my sun in pisces. But I have jupiter in mutual reception with my unaspected fire singleton sadge moon in the 2nd.

I feel so far from everything...

Yep. got a H3 stellium of ura, nep, mars, sat and venus in capricorn...

So I feel restricted by my surrounds. Australia is so uninspiring, boring and backwards...

I wish I could swap with someone...

i also absolutely love my own culture. nothing wrong with not liking your own culture either. sometimes i feel that way too but not in recent years. i hate being patriotic though. people have been getting patriotic so now i think it's just a lame trend LOL!

my 9th house is intercepted or duplicated though. it's gemini in placidus, cancer in equal. my mc is kinda der at 29 degrees cancer.

when i'm like 60 i want to be ambassador lol! not the one that worked his way up but the one that is appointed coz they have money hehehe!

Do you have any planets in 4th house? I don't have any. My 9th house is also intercepted but my feelings about other cultures never changed. I always wanted to move abroad and someday I will.

Anglerfish, that's funny because whenever i meet people from New Zealand, they are like "ugh New Zealand is at the end of the world and soooo boring! i'm moving to Australia". lol...

sand, it's not even that i don't like "my own culture" (that doesn't even sit well because i don't have the concept that it's "my own culture"). i actually quite love it, it's beautiful and so interesting, and many people want to visit there. but... yea that's exactly it, i feel the same as all these people who were not born there considering it an interesting culture. i appreciate it just like the "outsiders" would.

i've had a huge struggle with this issue throughout my life, especially when i lived in the US people would "preach me" ( ) "why aren't you proud of your heritage?" well hello, WHEN did i say that!? it's an entirely different thing, it's like forcing myself to belong where it is so foreign to me. it's like an arranged marriage to a stranger i don't know. just awkward, strange and a bit unfair because i didn't choose it. and since i never understood why i feel that way, they just made me feel really guilty and terrible. for a while i wore traditional clothes and watched traditional theatre, studied the culture and history to truly "be" the person of this place, but no one there actually makes the conscious "effort" to become that, so they just thought i was a weirdo, like a foreigner trying to belong.

i'm still struggling, i feel a big rejection reaction inside me when people want to think i'm from this country and want to ask me about this place etc. but the truth is that i left the place when i was still pretty young, and i don't even speak the language well. i just want EVERYONE in the world to just forget about it...

and i'd be so curious to know WHY, still!

my IC is in capricorn. 4th house is aquarius. no planets there as i have no air. why'd u ask? would planets in 4th make me like where i'm from more? i'm idiotically happy wherever i am lol! i forget friends once i don't go to school/work with them anymore and i enjoy the new ones. same with travel. i've lived abroad a few times for school. loved the experience but can't say i really would prefer any of those places to wherever i am. have you tried making a relocated chart for london? i tried for the place i'm moving to and i become libra rising. cool! no more scary scorpio hehe! there are some harsh aspects added to along with good ones but it's the only clear path i can see in a loong time so i'm taking it.

i have these btw.

Ruler of the Ninth House in the Sixth House

Long distance travel, teaching, publishing, law or sports related fields can have a connection with the work you do.
Your philosophies on life or your spiritual beliefs must have practical application in order to appeal to you. You believe in the work ethic or perhaps in helping others in some way. You can use your higher mind to influence the state of your health. Here is an indication that positive thinking can actually boost your well-being.

equal

Ruler of the Ninth House in the Tenth House

Your personal philosophies on life could receive public attention. You believe in your career and you have faith in authority figures or traditional institutions. Your career may involve any of the following: travel, law, publishing, teaching or sports.

You cant have 2 signs on a house cusp. You must have a planet. Yes, having planets in a house, means that you have a focus in that area. I did a relocation chart for London and some astrologers from where I am told me that in my past life I lived there and that for me it will be like a returning back HOME. This is why I don't feel like home where I was born. I have to move to England to find my roots. And yes, I have Libra rising there too. People would see me as a Libra. In England I would achieve everything I want but not easy and not quickly. Even so... I feel the calling of this country and I cant deny it. I will be happy with this return HOME. At my true home.
