I have this placement, its currently in the sky, but I don't meet many others with it. Scratch that, I have met one other person with it but every conversation was colored by her fire moon and mars. There were two other people on this site with it, but they aren't around anymore. Come to think of it, I don't actually meet alot of water mercuries very often. The one Scorpio Mercury I knew via LJ had a line of thinking that was almost identical to mine. Both of our mercuries made aspects to the same planets too. So all I really have to go by is the textbook description, but only half applies (like with every other Cancer description). It does feel like an emotional antenna--->> its easy for me to percieve the feelings/situations of the enviroment around me without even asking... but the sentimental part is debatable. For instance, my taste in music can be pretty retro, and history is my favorite subject, but I have very little personal nostalgia of my own. Again, that could be because of various heavy life experiences and lessons, IDK. I just have more of a desire to dwell/daydream on possibilities and move foward with life than reflect on my own past. I'm very bad at connecting with other people, I've noticed; I think I can count on one hand those I'm actually close to. Then again, I am a lone water mercury here, LOL. Memory is also very tricky due to an opposition from Neptune, and I can have the most irrational thoughts...but still make the most rational decisions (mutual reception?). Family is also not a very interesting topic for me, unless its to complain/poke fun at their idiocyncracies. XD Do any more of you want to come out of hiding? =) IP: Logged |

I have Mercury in Cancer as well, and I have never met anyone with the same placement. From what I've read, people with this placement tend to change their opinions frequently. I find that this is true for me, but I have the Sun in Gemini, so who knows.I tend to see both sides of an issue and have a hard time making a decision on stuff like politics, religion or relationships with others. If I don't have a mental connection with someone, I generally lose interest pretty quickly. I don't know if this helped haha IP: Logged |

Awwww, gee Betty...thanks! We definitely could use a hug sometimes...even when we don't want to admit it.

I almost thought that could be more of your gemini sun, but when I really thought of it...I really don't affiliate myself very easily. The only affiliation I have is the one I was baptized into as an tot...the Roman Catholic Church. And even then, I don't have alot in common with it besides a love for Jesus, views on abortion, and their Christmas parties. Technically I should have broke ties with it years ago, but then I think...it really doesn't matter. There are some things from there that are still useful to me, and there's just other stuff that isn't. It won't make a difference in my life whether or not I'm labeled that way tommorow.
I've only made one real decision to enter a romantic relationship before, every other interaction I've pretty much waited for the person to make the move, show their true colors, or go crazy from my side-stepping. Overcautious. Of course then again, I also have an Unaspected Gemini Venus, so it could be the combination of the two energies. IP: Logged |

BM I love water mercuries. I haven't known as many as I'd like.. My best friend has Pisces Mercury like myself. My longest relationship has been with a Scorpio Mercury guy (we're still friends). The man I am in love with has Cancer Mercury trine his Neptune in Scorpio (My Mercury turns it into a grand trine). I have a new friend with Scorpio Mercury. I can't see her very often, but she might be moving to my city soon! But back to the thread topic.. What I like most is that Cancer Mercury is kind. When they talk to you, it feels like they are telling you a story. It's so sweet. I could sit there and just listen to him talk all day. They have really nice, melodious caring voices. Words have emotional meaning to water Mercury.. and they don't say just anything to just anyone. IP: Logged |

The other Cancer Mercury I know definitely had a 'kind' approach, even if she was blunt courtesy of fire moon/mars. I generally try to take the therapeutic approach to communication myself, but sometimes the loose square to my Mars rears its ugly head...usually if I'm confronted first. =__=Oh wait a minute...I do know a pisces mercury! I'm such a n00b at remember people's astro-data (merc-neptune opposition strikes again!). She also has a Pisces Venus/Aries Sun/Mars and Leo Moon. She's an extrovert and can genuinely relate everyone regardless of background, and everything she talks about is relevant...not really alot of hollow conversation with her. Obstetrics is her passion (Cancer Jupiter I suppose), and she's 32 but seems and looks so much younger. She also picked me up on the way to school when my tires blew. IP: Logged |

I've got Mercury in Cancer I have to agree with a lot of what you've said, Benedict Moon*. I'm bad at connecting with people and I'm really only interested in talking about family to complain or poke fun at them. IP: Logged |

^^^Say! We also share the same moon (and therefore mutual reception?), don't we? Interesting. Its almost like I don't know what to say to most people past the mundane because we don't have much in common. Its like I really don't feel like revealing myself if I think it'll be a waste of time.

I can probably help you out since my father is a Leo Mercury. I'm guessing communication is the biggest problem with you two. My father always used to complain that I never talked enough, and that I was completely antisocial. Our relationship is alot more dysfunctional so keep that in mind with what I'm blindly percieving to be your issue (and let me know if I'm totally on or totally off). On your boyfriend's end, it would probably help if he were more forthcoming and a little less secretive, I know, though you may have to accept that there are some things we will probably take to the grave. On YOUR end, however, you could learn to listen more instead of spitting orator's rhetoric and expect him to nod in agreement all the time. I find with fire mercuries that while they can be very inspiring, they talk alot more than they listen sometimes. Now is that a hit or miss?

OMg you are right girlfriend...after all the ups and downs he and I have been through...we realize that 99% of our problem is communication style...we are trying to work on it.

If I'm not mistaken...you have Cancer planets, and the guy has Venus in Leo...no? When you're trying to understand where eachother is coming from, you should lean on those aspects IMO. IP: Logged |

Every MercuryCancer I know dabbles in some form of art. They use metaphores frequently. Shy in direct conversation, but great listeners.IP: Logged |

I actually love it when a book I'm reading turns out to be one big metaphor. I use to use them alot, but people didn't get them AT ALL. smh And I did alot of creative writing....before Nursing School, that is. Tried to start it up again last week, but it looks like I'll have till after July when I finish.

I love metaphors. I've taken several creative writing classes and love artsy things. Benedict Moon*, I agree also with what you're saying about not feeling like revealing yourself, although maybe it's my Sag ASC but sometimes I'm an open book and very outgoing. I think it usually occurs when I come across a fiery person and they initiate outgoing behavior. And you're in nursing school? I thought about it, but I'm horrible at math and squeamish around blood and guts. IP: Logged |

I'm not great with math either, and I think that part of nursing is actually easy as long as you know basic calculations. As for the blood/guts---->> can't help you with that. And I think the word for what I was talking about above (a big metaphor) is allegory. I love those. Books that I've read that have had those in the past I can't think of at the moment (duh, Nursing School taking over my brian) but there have been many. Don't do anything else artistic other than write, but I love surrealism as an art form. I also like alot of Goya's stuff. I also have a tarot deck that I've used/analyzed endlessly because of its extensive art and symbolism.

My chart ruler is actually in Sag so there are the rare occasions when I can do the same thing, and that's usually under the influence of the 'magic serum'...huehaha. Then of course, secretive Cancer planets and 8th house moon regrets everything the next morning.

Not always....alot of people have mercury in the sign before or after their sun sign. I've always been curious as to what that's like, honestly. Is it a hassle, or is it just a minor annoyance? I have Sun and Venus in two VERY different signs and it can be a little rough sometimes. Hmmmmm. IP: Logged |

I never thought of mercury as a annoyance .. I do think of my mars in scorpio squaring my Saturn in aquarius as a huge annoyance ! my air venus and jupiter ( both libra ) don't seem to bother me at all ..also having a water sun/ac is an annoyance too

No, I meant I wonder if having Sun and Mercury in different signs is as much of an annoyance as having the Sun and Venus (or Moon) in very different signs. IP: Logged |

It's a little annoying (Sun Gemini, Mercury Cancer), but I have moon, venus, and ascendant in Cancer, so it ain't so bad. I just wished more planets made a positive aspect to my Sun.The only conjunction(I have no trines or sextiles) is to Chiron(ugh) and in the 12th house(double ugh). But I think Mercury in Cancer gives me great writing skills and it's in my 12th house as well, so naturally I'm studying Psychology. IP: Logged |

Is yours also opposite neptune? Mine is in the 6th opposite Neptune in the 12th. Tbh, I was really shocked when my English teacher last summer (the most hardest critic of my work I've known and loved ) told me I was a strong writer. I always thought some of the stuff I wrote in the past was a little bit all over the place (pesky neptune opposition again). I do think he helped to polish my writing skills though. When I was still at University, I wanted to minor in psychology...still don't know why I didn't. I have taken psych classes towards my major however and enjoyed them. Its very informative and interesting. I just thought of one kooky way how metaphorical speech had me hitting a block: I started a thread a long time ago on a certain aspect being "The Guardian Angel Aspect" but in it, people literally started talking about Angels and how they 'guided them' or whatever. I literally wanted to bang my head against a desk. But hey, I guess not everyone will get our way of communicating. I think we do fall in the trap of that and symbolism alot. IP: Logged |

Ok, this is weird! My moon, mercury and venus are all in opposition to neptune as well. Neptune is in my 6th house opposite Mercury in 12th. Weirrrd.I had the same EXACT reaction when my English Professor said my writing was good (I thought it was pretty scattered). So, now I just write confidently, but I really think having my Sun in Gemini makes it hard for me to get my point across. I can write symbols and metaphors and about research, but when I try to explain something, I get all flustered and everyone just ends up confused haha. IP: Logged |

Yeah, same here! I can't seem to explain things to other people without confusing them. I'm alot better at getting things out in writing than articulating. On the reverse, I can 'get' most information in class easily without having to go back twice. Whereas more air, fire, and earth mercuries that I know of are always asking what the teacher meant when they said such-and-such statement. I guess we don't seem to need things 'broken down' to us in blatant terms. I also have had a terrible attention span in the past, which is currently being corrected by transiting pluto passing through my Mercury-Neptune opposition. My concentration this year is incredible by Jesus' standards...LOL. IP: Logged |
