I think you are generalizing. I have this conjunction in Pisces, on the DC, with Sun widely trine Pluto, Venus tightly trine Pluto, and I do not think I am shallow at all.

I do not care about social status and stuff like that, but I am AWARE of them, and the fact that people can judge others based on them.

I think you need to look at the entire, chart, as usual. I have Jupiter conjunct Moon, conjunct Mars, square Mercury, so I am more open-minded than that.
Plus a cluster of planets in the 9th house, again..I value so many things more than social status, and looks.
In fact I really do not ever judge others based on looks.

Venus conjunct Sun simply means Venus-related areas blend with Sun-related areas. Like a poster above said, Sun-Venus can usually mean expressing creativity in things dealing with Venus, like cooking, decorating, anything to do with the 5 senses.
It can also mean you see your father (Sun) as "Venusian" type-earthy, pragmatic, a sensualist.
