Lately, I have been focusing a lot of attention between these two.I have always identified strongly with my Venus in Scorpio(though at the same time paradoxically weary of its power) But I have also felt, and how do you say, a "natural alignement" with my Sun sign. But which is more evident in one's nature? I have heard of people saying that your Venus is "how you love" etc. whilst your Sun desrcibes your basic temperament and unadulterated nature. What I have found is true is about me is that I intellectually understand my Venus in Scorpio from a distant point of view, whilst when I read something on my Sun, I just laugh at how true that particular description of men is. Some people have said that Venus is your "shadow" nature, that part of you that you reserve only for yourself and not for any other person. Others have stressed that Venus is more about the circumstances sorrounding your birth rather than personality: I have someopne whom has a Venus in Capricorn and when he was born , his mom had just gotten a promotion at work( pregnant and all). His mom definately has a high work ethic(Sun in Virgo). Another one was born with under gruelling circumstances and he and his mother almost died (Venus in Scorpio).
Which one do you identify with more? I thought it was Venus, but it seems that my Sun sign is even stronger(in love relationships and everything else) and I am all confused.... IP: Logged |

I think the answer depends on the individual. I have Sun conjunct Neptune/square Moon. For a very long time, pinpointing anything about my self was like shining a bright flashlight into fog. You may have a Mercury that understands Venus better than your Sun, or a moon that considers Venus more personal than your Solar situation. Another good example, my Jupiter 3rd House and Chiron 1st house are both retrograde. Both planet's energies are dynamic and strong in my chart, but the retrograde energy makes them difficult for me to pinpoint in my personality. A bit frustrating considering Jupiter is my Sun's ruling planet. One other thing to consider - I understand the sun to be your "being", the environment in which all your other planets play. It's easy to overlook one's own nature. What else do you have to compare your nature against, besides your other planets? Each planet has a function, the sun's function is being. That's my own experience. PS: sort of off topic, there is a great book Here: http://books.google.com/books?id=NWkbcAAACAAJ&source=gbs_similarbooks_r&cad=2 It is all about how Pluto/Mars/Venus utilize each other. My Venus is in Scorpio too and this helped me understand my Venus in a new light. IP: Logged |

Even though I have a Cancer Stellium (Venus being on), the personality traits of a Cancer don't describe me generally. I prefer the traits of a Gemini generally, but not the romantic traits. I would agree that I am quick-minded and witty, but for relationships I can get pretty clingy and moody if I don't feel secure.IP: Logged |

LeoSun,I'm Leo to my bones. Venus is my chart's ruler, right on MC,with 5 aspect,so,it's driving force of my life. But,somehow,Sun has the last word on everything. I'd say that opportunities for each planet to reign r not equal. Like with given talents and working hard, one can't do witout other. So we have Planets, their potential, and eg exalted Moon with 4 aspect will be more resilient opponent than regular Venus with 2 aspect, but when we mix that with reality, sex, age, family upbringing, education, etc, that could easily get that Venus forth any other planet,no matter how pretty perfect they r.IP: Logged |

My Sun and my Venus are an entirely different basket of cookies.I can be confident, forward, extremely fiery in many areas (Aries-like).. Usually this is controlled because I also have Capricorn Mars, so it's a pre-planned and controlled way of being fiery. I am definitely cardinal in the sense that I know what I want and I have a plan to get it. This is not at all so in love. In love I'm peaceful, calm - I don't feel like starting anything. I'm laid back to an extreme. (Venus in Taurus trine Neptune). I don't really have a plan here. I don't actively pursue what I want to see happen long term (because frankly - I'm unsure) I just want things to fall into place on their own. IP: Logged |

__________________________________________ "For example, a Libra with Venus in Scorpio may be attracted to intense, emotional types, and have a strong need for all or nothing type commitments, and trust in relationships… but the central motivation forces of the Libra Sun is to promote harmony and fairness in their relations out in the world in general… they are the diplomats of the zodiac, and so they use Scorpion Venus’ penetrating insight, and ability to understand the deeper psychological motivations behind things, as a tool to help them along in their quest to promote their ‘peace and justice for all’ type mission in life. Just think how useful a Scorp Venus is when it comes to conflict resolution… if you can understand peoples underlying motives for why they do what they do…" ________________________________________I think I understand this part a lot. I think that within the overall purpose of my Sun, having a Venus in Scorpio is beneficial as it means that I'll live life less superfially, live with more intensity and deeper meaning.... Even though I have a water, Pluto heavy chart, my Sag qualities are still heavily felt.

While I find I can often act with the lightness of a butterfly when in love/lust/crush (Gemini Venus) or expressing my style, my inner force is essentially super sensitive, introverted, and with more depth. As for who I attract, I tried going purely by my Venus once and it didn't work out. I don't rule out Geminis completely, they just require some water to satisfy the rest of my chart. hehe. Its taken me a while to admit my Sun is really the true driver here, but with some input from certain other passengers. IP: Logged |

Its also taken me/ is still taking me a while to acccept the sovereignity of my Sun sign, especially when it has such a "maverick" description. I once said to someone that at times I can be cool, detached , calm and deliberate . But then at other times I can be restless, inconsitant, joking around and laughing myself silly. He asked me which of the two requires less effort , and I said the latter. He then responded that maybe that is who I really am.

Yeah, its hard to even want to identify woth your sun when so many so-called 'astrologers' are very disparaging towards the sign. Then you're like, I'm nothing like Cancer but way more like my (insert popular placement here). Your above piece there reminds me of the battle of my Sun and Asc (which are in opposition). Don't even get me started on that.My mother doesn't know the exact time, she keeps on saying , "it's around 3pm". To make matters that much more disheartening. This is the time when the ascendant was on the cusp of Aries/ Taurus. I seem to be identifying with Taurus more: hence "AscTaurus". But you never know...
