Are they kinda slow and seem a little spacey in their speech with lots of "ummm" and "yahhh" and pauses?

I find it hard to speak with pisces mercury cause I always accidentally interrupt them when I think they are done but they have a slower more chilled out pace to their speech, I think.

Could be because I am a sag mercury (square). Tensions and/or issues in speech and communication with this as an aspect with somone else.

Sag merc I think, does not get enough credit for a. being a talkative placement, excited even and especially b. I think it is a good place for sag to be, actually. No personal bias.

They certainly have a dreamy way of expressing themselves. Sagittarius is enthusiastic and excitable, for good and bad.

"they have a slower more chilled out pace to their speech, I think."
---I agree. Their mind meanders around, not really following a sure shot, they may make their point they may not but the standout is that they are expressing it in a way that accurately reflects their emotional state at the time. That is important for all Water Mercs, their emotion behind the statement, that they are true to that part of themselves.

"Could be because I am a sag mercury (square)."
---That could factor into this. I tend to not like communicating with those who have their Mercs square to mine because there tend to be misunderstandings related not to the actual words but to the manner in which they are spoken. The Scorp Mercs think I must not care about the matter at hand cos I speak so quickly and interject so many amusing observations, but my Air Merc is focused on the idea, if they wanted to know how I felt about the subject then they'd need to ask cos its not gonna be heard in the tone I use. And then the Taurus Mercs think I'm flighty because my mind is facile and I can easily switch subjects, whereas they drive one idea into the ground before moving onto another, and I in return see them as stupid because of that fact.

They don't! lol

jk I have Pisces Merc. I can be talkative but it really depends what mood I'm in and who I'm with.
My favourite Mercury is Scorpio. They understand me through and through. I don't mind Sagittarius Merc though (My Uranus is in Sag square my Mercury).
:edit: I also have a Merc/Jupiter conjunction... which could give my Mercury a Sag vibe anyway. I might not be the best example. :

Virgo Mercury is by far the most difficult for me and Aries Mercury is not always my cup of tea either (even though I'm an Aries Sun).

I'm very dreamy sometimes.. so unless I have to concentrate because I'm studying/working - I can't be bothered. I'm relaxed in conversation. Pisces Merc is a good listener. I can relax and listen to other people happily. I don't always feel like 'jumping in'.

Interestingly though, a lot of things I've worked on including projects, essays, presentations I have given and so on, involve very detailed Virgo-like work.

My partner, has a mercury in Pisces..he speaks very quietly, and is very soft spoken.I sometimes pretend i can actually hear what he is saying, just because i dont want to ask him to speak up again..

He writes much more expressively than he speaks.only speaks after a short pause as he thinks, has a introspective dreamy look on his face while he thinks.often looks up or into the air when thinking.

I'm a mercury and sun in cancer, and my favorite mercury is pisces mercury. Scorpio is great, too, but I like pisces more by far, maybe bc I have neptune in the third. I dont necessarily think pisces mercuries are spacey or talk slow or quietly. I just think it makes people slightly more sensitive to nuances, kinder, and sweeter. In the aries i've met it seems to give them a lot of forethought to their actions, while the pisces sun aries merc people i've met really behave quite brashly sometimes.

The pisces i know with merc in pisces told me that he can sit and listen to someone no matter how boring they are cos he feels bad and also doesnt know how to interject and end the convo. He does get talkative tho when hes like in a good mood. But most of the time I have to be the one to initiate things and bring up ideas for the convo and he'll follow my lead. He lieks talkin to me he just doesn't come up with anything to say because he says he has too much in his head and he needs a while to think it over and get it out. Hes boring but hes not because he may not say a lot but when he does its interesting. Maybe they are better thinkers than speakers

To me, I cannot understand a Pisces Mercury very well.It feels like the energy is too concentrated like a letter written with the lines too close together.
It feels like a dense Mercury in terms of energy not intelligence of the person.
The energy just seems like it is in a lump, to me.
My Air wants to take it and spread it our lol
Pisces squares my Gemini stellium.

My grandfather had a Pisces Mercury. I adored the way he spoke (I have Scorpio Mercury). He was from Tennessee and had the most lovely, calm, rolling Southern accent you've ever heard. He did speak slowly, but in a very soothing way. He would probably laugh if you called him "soothing" though - he was a former Marine!!

Sometimes he would mix up words or mangle phrases, but in a way that actually made him MORE expressive. Like even if the words were wrong, they made more sense than if he had said it properly.

^ Yea, through the course of things the mixups end up sounding like poetry.

Some of my favorite songwriters/lyricists have pisces mercury...though I'm a cancer mercury myself so that would be the connection. I've never noticed the one pisces mercury that I know off to be spacey, but she happens to have an Aries Sun and Mars so that may balance that out. The thing is, almost everything she says in a conversation is relevant (to me)...I've never felt the need to tune her out. This mercury, being the last one, can relate to everyone and no one at the same time.

I should add, I can be unpredictably reticent. Also, when I first meet someone, I summon my feminine softness so I can pull them in. I'm much more of a listener than a speaker when I first meet someone. (That could be Cancer Rising.)

LOL

Mercury aspects change the vibe. Mercury conj Moon can be an effective communicator.

I have Mercury square Uranus and I'm nuts!

My friend has a mercury and sun in Pisces, though they aren't conjunct, and she is so soft-spoken and certainly can get sidetracked.

I don't know what her Ascendant is, but I think most of her verbal trends are attributed to the Pisces.

She can also drag out what she means or end up switching lanes and correcting herself or even straight up doing a 180 and changing her mind.

I don't mind though, as my Libra mercury implores me to listen until they're all done. And yes, Ami Anne, I can see what you mean.

I'd like things to be said clearly and neatly with not so many changes in mood or so much feeling in one sentence, then apathy in the next. I'd like the "lumpiness" (this term is kind of unfair to Pisces merc) to be spread out.
