For me, when my world gives me a speeding ticket, I look inside to see where I need to slow down. If I am being left alone, I look inside for places where I am avoiding myself.
If you feel you are missing something and those you reach out to are being pulled away, perhaps you are being called to sit with your self and figure things out.
For me, the answer doesn't often come right away. I only find answers once I learn to enjoy participating in the lesson (slowing down, being with my self, etc..).
That's a common dynamic for growth and transformation in my paradigm. I hope it helps a little in figuring out your dilemma. Just remember, there are all sorts of things people know that you don't, and there are all sorts of things you know that others don't You are never behind, but always in the perfect place for experiencing your world. =)
