My niece has no planets in earth signs (except for the Ascendant), but plenty of planets in earth-y houses. Does this negate her lack of earth planets? Also, a lot of her planets are on the border between two houses. Example - Mars right in between houses 7 and 8. Which house would her Mars be interpreted in? IP: Logged |

i have no air but planets in air houses and my merc is strong. i do not feel the lack of communication skills but iv read some readings that do apply. so i think you can still read that as no planets in earth for her. http://www.astro.com/mtp/mtpt92_e.htm are we talking 29th degree for the planets? Having planets in Earth houses might help orient her to earthly things and areas--basically 'grounding' the air, fire, or water planets that fall in those houses. So yes, it could help IMO. I'm pretty low in air, but I have planets in Air houses hence I'm not lacking much in the intellectual sphere of life. IP: Logged |

if her planets are right on the cusp i would interpret both. i have my uranus in the 8th/9th cusp and ive pretty much excepted my influence in both spheres in my life. i have absolutly no fire signs in my chart. but ihave 3 planets in the 9th and 1 planet in the 5th so i think it sort of makes up for the lack of fire in my chart. oh, and my sun is conjunct mars so i think tht might help.. but mars is in libra sooo i dont know how much it does help since its in its opposite sign. soo her earth houses might ground her a bit or make her ambitions physical IP: Logged |

The only earth planet I have is Neptune(go figure)in Capricorn. But I have saturn and uranus in the 2nd, Jupiter in the 6th, and a 10th house moon. From my experience, yea it can make you more grounded b/c these certain issues become important. Planets in earth signs naturally express themselves in pratical ways. It's the mode of function. But Planets in earth houses have a way of drawing your attention to more earthy issues. Like my Saturn in the 2nd shows how I will lose money before I gain of or put on a front like I have no money. Either I will be broke or tight fisted(I am def. The latter). but what it does is makes money an important issue for me and I turn my attention to it
And my 6th house Jupiter threatens of diabetes b/c of Jupiters tendacy to over compensate. But it means how my health and work become an issue or important factor in my life. I can say tho that I have luck with finding jobs, I get lucky alot lol when it comes to work, I'm an opportunist, taking whatever is open until I find something better.
So yea, I think it can keep one grounded b/c it makes those houses important factors in your life when planets fill them. I'm far from practical but I do focus on earthy things and I am good with money

HI I only have one planet in earth, my virgo moon. However one of the earth houses is has sun venus jupiter mercury chiron in so that makes up for lack of earth as does having saturn on the ascendant (see website interpretations on this, have also posted on another thread that this makes you grounded). However having read the astro link on this thread some of it does pertain to me. The lack of air section definately pertains to some people I know in life, they could use some. IP: Logged |

I have no earth signs, and only Mars and Mercury (plus asteroid Ceres) in earth houses. This is an extreme lack of earth, though I have seen a huge number of similar cases especially from a number of people born in 1914 and 1915 (e.g. William Burroughs, Thomas Merton). My “singleton” second house Mars does certainly become more focused on money issues than it would otherwise be. My drive to accumulate and collect things is particularly evidenced with this position of Mars, though my very full fourth house tends to drive this collection towards things of sentimental value (most especially old English county cricket) rather than things of practical value to myself in the present. My sixth house Mercury accounts for my obsession with often impractical statistical data – old county cricket being the best-developed but by no means the only such case. IP: Logged |
