According to traditional astrology Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer. I'm interested in hearing about people's experiences with this planetary placement.

My Jupiter is in Cancer 3rd House, but it is retrograde, so grasping the energy within my self is difficult.

Does anyone have any stories to share about their experiences with Jupiter in Cancer people (especially Sagittarians with Jupiter in Cancer)?

Thanks =)

...When was Jupiter actually in Cancer? I'm thinking that had to be like a billion years ago and I don't think there's anyone THAT old on the boards...

Jupiter takes almost 12 years to orbit (11.8618 years). The oldest recorded person in the world was born on 4/19/1897 and could possibly be on these forums. Since 1897, Jupiter has been in Cancer 14 times. The last time it was in Cancer was 2002 and the next time will be in 2 years.

Just how you see it playing out in your interactions with your self and environment. Any experiences you have with other Jupiter in Cancer people. How you see Jupiter using Cancer in an exalted way. Any information you are interested in sharing really.

I'm not interested in astronomy, the technical, more mathematical side of astrology holds absolutely no interest for me.

Being an outer planet, I assumed Jupiter moves through the signs slowlyyyyyyyyy, so this is a complete and total surprise to me. It seems weird to me that it's exalted in Cancer too - you'd think that the planet commonly associated with philosophy, higher education and religion would be exalted in an air sign.

Now that I think about it though I can kind of see the connection between Cancer and Jupiter when you take into account the negative manifestations or shadow side of each. Afflicted Cancer is linked to clannishness, xenophobia and bigotry. Jupiter afflicted is self-righteousness, dogmatism, and various other forms of intolerance and bigotry.

I think it has to do with perspective. When Jupiter is more cautions it understands that boundaries can be useful and empathy makes Jupiter less likely to chuck bolts of judgment at things. With both traits, its beneficence is channeled into a desire to nurture the needs of others. When Cancer is elevated and "Jovialized", the inherent warmth that people become addicted to, is no longer withdrawn for the sake of manipulation. Cancer feels uplifted and not protective. It gets to be nice to everyone without caring if someone attempts to hurt it, it is above being harmed by their lowly negative problems and now in a position to help.

It's interesting that you picture air signs to hold the key to philosophy. I have always pictured Jupiter's energy as being one that calls someone from deep within their core to evolve and stretch beyond their structures. Adding mental or rational energy to that "calling" seems more capable of seeking knowledge over wisdom. I could see Jupiter better expressed in a Fire or a Water sign, where feelings and callings are integrated rather than discussed.

I have never really given much value to exalted planets, their math doesn't work out for me. I'm more of a school of thought which sees great good and great evil as a potential for all astrological events. For me, the ability to exalt anything exists within the person.

mine is retrograde jupiter cancer in the 9th/10th house opposing like all my planets which are mostly in the 4th house. BUT astro.com says both houses which makes no sense to me cos it clearly looks 9th house but i guess cos its retro perhaps and conjunct the MC. But by my eye it looks 9th. ive got a whole capricorn opposing cancer thing. Although i lack planets aside from jupiter (and chiron but i dont count that much) in cancer my main planets are in 4th house which is ruled by cancer. I honestly don't see any connection to Cancer! Nor to the Jupiter retro in Cancer! If there is any connection I have with it i wouldnt know how to point it out. Id need like some parameters to use so that i could tell yu what yur lookin for. And my friends have it too buuut I think id have to ddo a synastry with all of them to see how all our jup's in cancer play out together. So perhaps its a subdued force.

My Jupiter is opposed Mercury in Capricorn 9th house. Weee!

I wonder if the retrograde effects how noticeable our Jupiters are. It's my only Cancer planet, and the only planet in my 3rd house. My Moon is Virgo and Saturn is Virgo too, so Capricorn tends to be the more active energy in that opposition.

I recently turned 22 and I have this in my 4th house.

Guess it makes me want the whole 'white picket fence' future family life. Makes me pretty sensitive too =/ (but might be cos of chart aspects )

I have this pretty tightly conjunct the IC, sextile sun, square ascendant and mercury and opposing saturn, uranus and neptune.

hmm maybe it is the retro! and mine opposes my cap merc too ^_^ as well as neptune uranus and then to my Mars in 3rd house Sag. There's a connect between it and sag at least! That could be good right? Since the jupiter is exalted in Cancer.

My jupiter isn't retro lol. And it actually squares my merc =)

I wish I had jupiter in a more assertive sign actually. I have jupiter in cancer and a scorpy pluto, and everything else is air or earth. Wish it was in aries or sth instead =/

i have an interesting configuration. I have a Stellium in Sagittarius 1st house, and retro Jupiter on the 1st degree of Cancer, 7th house, is opposing this Stellium (also opposing the DC ruler Mercury).

i heard Jupiter in Cancer is a lucky placement. i think i'm quite a lucky person, considering i emerge every time i get unlucky... it did take a long time to really understand it though. actually i think i'm still in the process of understanding it fully.

I have my Jupiter in Cancer house 2 (4 degrees.)

it trines my Venus in Pisces house 10
opposes my Uranus house 8
Conjuncts Ceres Cancer house 1

Does Jupiter apply to our education? I notice that in a learning environment, a teacher that cares makes a big difference. Class environment is important too.

I was in a cold gloomy class for a communications class...I'm almost never nervous when it comes to speeches but then when I got up there I felt like a deer in the headlights, and my arms where shaking...

The next speech I wore my coat in that class and had a really good time with my speech.

Feeling comfortable in a classroom seems really important for me.

I'm wondering if any of this has to do with Jupiter in Cancer....or I'm just a bit of a needy diva. lol

I have Jupiter in Cancer conjunct Chiron. I do feel like I've always had a gift of being something of a warm, shaman-like healer to people. I always feel responsible for someones well being if they're in my general vicinity, or of course within my group of loved ones. I do feel a lot of power resonates from this placement. It feels very warm, maternal, and graceful. Granted, it's also part of my grand water trine with Pluto and Mars, so I don't know, I might be projecting the energies of those signs into my Jupiter as well.
