A friend of mine asked a very good question today....... Is there anything in a person's chart to indicate an inclination toward math and/or accounting?

Pallas may be prominent as it is indicative of pattern recognition and logical thought.

I once read that Mercury-Saturn aspects may indicate this, and I remembered it since my Mercury is in Pisces and I always wanted to know why I have such a logical brain and maths skills.

For what it's worth: Mercury in Pisces in the 6th, trine Uranus, square Neptune, and opposite Jupiter/Saturn.
Pallas is not prominent in my chart.

I am suspecting there are no astrological indicators.

Abstract Maths = Pisces.

Applied Maths (& Accounting) = Virgo.

Hmm... my sister has no virgo placements. It rules her 12th. She has moon in Pisces, but hates abstract math.

hmm Maybe it's only the Sun or Mercury in Virgo/Pisces (since Moon & Venus are feeling/emotional planets, rather than thinking planets and Mars could probably go either way).

Also, since men are more encouraged to study mathematics in our society... it would be more likely guys with those placements, not girls.

Oh I just noticed you said she does like mathematics, just not abstract maths!
Does she have Taurus/Capricorn prominent?
I would think other than Virgo - the other earth signs could also be interested in accounting.

I'd also say Earth influence. I used to post at another astrology board and one day a Capricorn presented a math problem. Only Earth signs attempted to solve it and then an Aries jumped in and admonished us all for being dull.

Well, I have alot of placements that would suggest that I'm some sort of Maths genius.
Mercury in Virgo
trine Saturn
trine Uranus
trine Neptune
sextile Pluto

I'm so bad at maths and accounting that I'm trying to avoid having to use them.
I'm not dumb but the sciences are just not for me even though my chart regularly reminds me that I should be pursuing a career as an accountant or engineer. lol

Other Earth signs makes sense. She's got Sun and Jupiter in Taurus and Uranus, Saturn and Neptune in Capricorn.

Ah, the plot thickens!
I do have moon in Taurus and Saturn conjunct the ascendant and my large collection of planets in Aries never found math to be boring.
Accounting yes - boring as hell, although I was good at it, but never ever math.

I think they were referring to hard aspects, Pisces mercury can't remember all the details. Of course

I don't think it's Mercury-Saturn either, I have them sextile and not only do I hate math, I'm really, REALLY bad at it.

I have Pallas conjunct the descendant too so take from that what you will.

I'd say mercury plays an important part.

But its hard to tell, I've bumped into several Pisces math majors and even a Sag now doing a masters in math. I bet he has some scorpio in his chart.

Also, keep in mind theres a diffrence between accounting math vs engineering math.

I'd assume the more "logical thinking signs" whould be intrested in math or "forced" to math.

I'd have to if I wanted to be a Software engineer. Not that I would actually use math
that the average indvidual couldn't do.

Aerospace engineering on the otherhand is a diffrent story and needs a lot of math understanding.

math is suppose to help understand structure and logic. I can do the math, but I'd be fired if you hired me as a tutor, lol.

Some gems excel at logic lets not forget
Ted Kaczynski aka the unabomber. But he is nuts.

Capriquarius,

I agree in a way the only diffrence is
an earth sign whould have the patience and concentration to solve it.

Capircorn Rising
Gemini Sun, 5th House
Aries Moon
Mercury in Gemini
Venus In Taurus

you mean grades wise or just naturally great at it?

high math grades just take practice IMO. so i guess whichever sign loves to do that and do it repeatedly.

i have merc in 6th aries so i wasn't so into the practice. also i'd stupidly study around 75% or just the passing grade. that kinda left a small room for error haha! i didn't know some people studied 100% of what was on the test and got 75% still just barely passing.

i can strangely prove theorems but can't explain well how i got them. i was kinda weirded out when people would ask me how i came up with the answers when i topped that test in high school. uranus singleton?

think my math grades have been in the B's consistently. not mt forte but i'm abit better when they're applied to business like financial statements and the like.. i'm no accountant tho.

I did that too! I once stated a theorem in chemistry before the teacher started to explain it, she thought I had the book stashed somewhere. Uranus is at 29 degrees Scorpio, at some point I thought it was a singleton but I also have Mercury in water.

Interestingly I've seen accountancy linked with Taurus quite a lot but it all depends on the slant.

For instance the desire to 'figure things out' and develop a financial improvement system I find links Mercury to Pluto. The love of structure and predicting income; Venus to Saturn. The innate understanding of numbers and mathematics links to Neptune.

I guess if there were straight-forward answers to these questions then we'd have nothing to talk about

Strangely also an innate ability to hand finances can also indicate a prominent Moon with earth links. Then of course the ability to attract money coincides with a well aspected Jupiter quite often and/or prominent second house.

Accountancy like anything can be approached from many different angles. I know accountants with very very different jobs. If your friend is asking because he/she is interested in this career-wise then please post the chart!! Tis the only way
