So a long time ago when i bought a mini signs book which had both western and chinese astrology in it, it said that Edgar Allan Poe (born in jan 1809) was a Snake in chinese astrology. I also googled it and most have him down as a snake as well. But the problem is how are Darwin and Lincoln (both born on the same day in feb. 1809),born that same year as Poe, Dragons??? I dunno who's wrong! i dont really know anything how chinese calculate things besides something bout the moon and its a 12 year cycle. Dragon comes before Snake so that means Poe mighta been a Rabbit. I tried counting backwards once by 12 and I got dragon so i dont think Poe is a snake. I just wanna know what sign he is for sure (chinese) and why everyone has it wrong!? This anomaly has been plaguing me for yeeears.

I don`t know exactly what Poe is (you can google it I guess), but the chinese zodiac starts somewhen in february, so people born in january and beginning of february might be Dragon, and those born at the end of february and the rest of the year and the january of the next year might be born under the sign of the snake.

He is a Dragon since he was born in january before the new chinese year 1809 (year of the snake) started.

haha ya thats what im thinking but then they are wrong about eeeveryone else born that year! how can everyone be wrong about the same thing? Why is a published book wrong! Shouldnt they check these things better. And the internet is wrong its so weird to me. i mean does it like go retrograde or soemthing haha (i know they probably dont have retrograde in chinese astrology im just sayin)

chinese new year doesnt start until the new moon then it goes into its next year. i cant remember if its the first or second new moon but either way it usually is at the end of january or the beginning of febuary. poe is a snake.

hm but i think that if 1809 was year of the dragon then Poe is a rabbit which comes before it. Unless Lincoln and Darwin aren't dragons but snakes making poe a dragon. See its hard because there isnt much information about the 1809 calendar. You just have to count backwards 12. But also the lunar phase has to be known then too.

Poe must be a Dragon cause the year 1809 (from february) was the year of the snake, and Dragon comes before snake.

The Western Zodiac starts at the end of March, with Aries.

The Chinese Zodiac starts at a different date each year, but that date is ALWAYS somewhere in either January or February.

2011 is the year of the Rabbit. That does not mean that the year of the Rabbit starts January 1, 2011. I don't know the exact date of the Chinese New Year for this year, but let's say it was February 20. In that case, the year of the Rabbit started February 20, 2011.

If Darwin and Lincoln were born on February 12 (my bday!) 1908, and this is the year of the dragon, that does not mean that someone born on any dat of 1908 is going to be a Dragon. I didn't look it up, but it is possible that Darwin and Lincoln had their birthdays just days BEFORE the switchover from Dragon to Snake.

In any case, I looked it up, and Poe seems to be born in the year of the Dragon, but born at the very beginning of the lunar Snake year, which might cause confusion. But he is not a Snake, he is a Dragon.

yes, exactly and Poe was born even earlier that year, in january. And if the others were born before the switch, so was Poe, and they were the same sign.
If they were born after the switch, Poe of course would be the previous sign.

mmkay so the common consensus here seems to be Poe dragon and darwin and lincoln snakes. The book and the internet just have them all oddly wrong!! AHHH nothing is reliable i had faith in books psh. >.<

I don't think Darwin and Lincoln were born in the year of the snake. I think they were born before the switch over to Dragon. Could be wrong though.
