Ok I have 3 'curiosities', and was just interested to see what opinions others had.
1 - What do you think about Chinese astrology, I don't know much about it apart from there is 1 sign for every 12 months, which makes our way of looking at someones sun, moon, venus, mars etc, not to mention all the planets, very complicated, yet, quite accurate.
2 - Linda used to talk about the order of the signs related to their 'maturity', eg, Aries is the b'baby' whereas Pisces, the 'wise old soul'. I have a Piscean daughter, with an Aries moon and an Aries rising, what do you look at when considering a whole person in terms of their astological 'maturity'? Do you look at just their sun, where would my daughter fit in? I also have a male friend, an Aries, with an Aries venus, but Mars in Pisces.
3 - I once read somewhere that it's more realistic to look at a mans Mars sign as an indication of his overall nature, rather than his sun. Is this correct?
Any insights to any of the above would be appreciated, I am learning! :-)

1 - I like what I have seen of Chinese astrology. I think it adds a wide perspective to an individual. I cant really comment more unfortunately, because I have never studied Chinese astrology beyond my own sign.

2 - I think there is definitely something to that philosophy, but maturity is relative in my opinion. Someone can have a mature Jupiter, but an immature Venus. I believe the whole chart and how the person uses it are the true indicators of maturity.

3 - I'm not sure about this, because gender is such a fluid psychological and even physiological concept. I'm male and my Mars is strong, but that has a lot to do with it being the ruler of my ASC. I have heard that the Moon should be considered as the originating planet in a woman's chart and the Sun should be considered for men. I think it may be more of a matter of people's individual astrological styles and what works best for them.

What have been your observations about the three questions you have posed?

1. Everything is interconnected, you always find a correspondence between numerology, western astrology, chinese, etc. Oddly enough, Rooster (Virgo), my chinese year sign, is not amongst the big three in my chart, but I've seen many cases where this stands true.

2. I think that the initial vibration is indeed chronologically increased, but then it's up to the individual to evolve. I still don't know how to blend the energies into a whole.

3. Absolutely not. Sun trumps all. Moon might trump Sun sometimes when it's a female, but not in the case of men. There is one exception, when Mars is dispositor of the Sun - Sun in Aries.

1. Chinese Astrology is fascinating, it's not as intricate as Western or Sidereal Astrology but I have seen how it plays out in my life. For example a Libra Dragon expresses them self a bit differently then a Libra Goat. The stars may change but one thing is for sure the Earth goes around the Sun yearly.

2. I honestly don't fully agree with Linda on that assessment, even though I agree with her on most interpretations. I see the Zodiac wheel as twelve lessons not steps. The wheel isn't a ladder it's a circle meaning every piece has a place in the great scheme of the Universe. Aries is just as important as Pisces. What differentiates the two is their lessons. The Zodiac signs are all equally evolved, however in this lifetime with Sign placements we face different lessons. The wheel is not so much about evolution (which is the soul's territory and can't be measured by placements) and more about experiences and learning. I have many oppositions in my chart, to all my natal planets. And I'm a Libra Sun, Aries Moon. I've been learning about balance in this lifetime, and possibly many before. I learn my lessons through experiences which in turn allows my soul to evolve.

3. Honestly when it comes to any one's personality look at the whole chart. It's really about how they manage their own energies.

1. I find that my Chinese sign fits, I'm close to a lot of other people with the same sign, I can see where it's characteristics mold nicely with the western tropical chart. There's more than the basic sign, there's one for hour of birth, like an asc, etc.
2. Ahhhh, it's sort of a simple way to look at astro, but there are 3 categories here, ARI TAU GEM CAN---LEO VIR LIB SCO---SAG CAP AQU PIS. The 1st 4 are considered more simplistic, representing the sign that starts off all 4 elements, so they show it in a form of just getting basic needs met. The second set they start to mature and venture out into the world, so are marked as social signs. The third set is metaphorically done with dating and mating and is looking at the big picture, more philosophically oriented. I guess you could look at a chart with 7/10 placements in Aries, Taurus, Gem, Cancer & see them as v.simplistic & focused on them & theirs, but then again they may surprise you.
3. I like looking at their Mars, to me it's how they like to stand out as an individual man, apart from the herd, if they go to impress they'll likely use this sign/it's house/it's aspects. Overall nature I'd personally put to Sun/Moon/ASC/NN combo + angular planets + stelliums by sign and/or house + anything making a hard aspect to Sun/Moon/ASC/NN.
