weeeeelll, growing up i was always told about chinese astrology, sometimes even given a hard time for being the "snake" in the family haha! one of my moms good friends was a very skilled astrologer and he had given her a pretty accurate chart reading. soo ive always had a really intense desire and attraction towards any sort of personality quiz, or self persuing interest. i knew more about chinese astrology, so when i started to read into my sun sign and what not i got really interested. the concept of the zodiac was always very intriguing. i really started to avidly get into astrology and looking up every facet of my chart about 4 years ago when i found someone who was born the same day/year as me- ever since ive been obsessed! hehe :3 IP: Logged |

I got into it when I wanted to know me and my crush's compatibility in middle school. He was an aries, i'm a cancer, and the description of both signs fit us both to a T, and so did how well we got along--which was horribly. It also says there's a sexual attraction between these two signs but they cant stand each other. Lol so true.So then after that I read about my chart on astro.com astro-click portatrait and i checked out astro books that told me about how childhood events shaped my personality. It was amazing and so enlightening! I was hooked. To answer your question--the reason was for security---for security over my life and further understanding of the world. Astrology helps me understand how thhings work a lot more clearly. It also keeps me grounded. I see that if i dont get along with someone it's actually because of our synastry and not because i personally did anything to them. That's just one example, I guess. I noticed i was truly compatible with all my crushes, which meant there is something to the idea of love at first sight. If we can make friends at first sight, why not true love at first sight, then, right? But I noticed that a lot of people have a kind of twisted or perverted idea of love, maybe. The guys who had crushes on me, but who I didnt like back, not even as a friend, we had terrible compatibility yet they still managed to have a crush on me. But I've never had a crush on a guy i had terrible compatibility with. Even if they had an aries sun, which means it'll be rough traveling, we still had compatible synastry and composite. It also helps me believe in god. If astrology is true, then god must be true. Who created it otherwise? It's beautiful. It's the most magical and deeply beautiful thing in the world to me. I wish everyone knew about it. IP: Logged |

Snakes of the world unite! I am a Fire Snake, but have never been discriminated against for it. =D I got into astrology because my Aquarian girlfriend in high school read our Sun descriptions. I was floored that it was even slightly possible for there to be accuracies. Ironically enough, she is now an Atheist/Realist and struggles with the fact that I am still able to convince her that astrology works. I pursued astrology halfheartedly, mostly because the Neptune conjunct my Sun made it difficult to identify with the textbook explanations of Sagittarius. I remember how excited I was to thumb through an ephemeris and write down the signs for my planets (this was about two years before the internets were made public). I remember feeling so bummed that I had a Virgo Moon and a Capricorn Mercury (blah, how boring I thought). I wanted so badly to have Pisces or Aquarius in my chart (Gemini, Pisces, and Aquarius are the only signs not occupied, and my 11th/12th houses are empty HAha). Venus in Scorpio piqued my interest overall. It was so weird to actually read about my deep, obsessive, jealous, and investigatory nature. Such a contrast to what I had read about Sagittarius, yet both energies were completely identifiable within me. I could not fathom how any mathematical system could quantify something as nebulous as feelings. From that point on I became obsessed with trying to figure out how and why astrology could possibly work. My ultimate reason for studying astrology was to find some kind of order in the universe, to challenge my spiritual dogmas, and to better understand humanity which I felt very estranged from. Today I understand astrology in a completely different light. IP: Logged |

It all started when I started doing tarot. I had many friends in an online board where people discussed both astro ad tarot. I was curious (Sag Sun Aqua Asc here lol) and wanted to know more but I had no clue where to begin. After a lot of self-study I got into it for good! It was a parallel "evolution" with my tarot reading skills. For me, both tarot and astrology are an expression of my Pluto in the 8th love for research in the depths of the human nature/psyche. Honestly there WAS no 'why'. I just read horoscopes in the paper off and on when I was young and kinda thought it was cool then somewhere along the way I found out there was more to astrology than that...started reading books and the rest is history. I just naturally found it interesting and gravitated toward it. At this point I'm still into it because I like the insight it gives me on myself and others. I feel like I learn about about people and how they work through the subject. IP: Logged |

NOT REALLY!!! LOL... The funny thing is he's not really a Lioness's type... I guess thats what karma does... I will prob always have a special place, but I do know, it would never work with us... I would rather have him as a friend, then have him out of my life as an enemy. IP: Logged |

I'm a Libra and I got into astrology after surviving a transformational experience and having that tragedy turn into a miracle. I wanted to learn more about myself and my life in general. I'd met people who guessed my astrological sign and were spot on. It frightened me that people who barely knew me could read me like a book. I started researching in college. On the very first day I studied works surrounding the nature of Libra's for three hours straight. It was nuts and I haven't looked back ever since. I'm a research fanatic and need to know everything and so I got into astrology, numerology, tarot, new age sciences, occult studies etc. IP: Logged |

I don't remember. I do, however remember sitting at the dinner table at age 6 and asking my mother what my sign was. It's just always been there. I need to know someone's birthdate before I know their name. I can't identify them otherwise.IP: Logged |

Well horoscopes were always around and when i was a little kid me and people at school would read them or talk about it, so astrology wasn't completely unheard of to me. In middle school everyone would try to find out who's compatible etc... and then like last year I reaaallly got into it where i actually started to understand all the technical things about birth charts. I never knew it was so in-depth! Oooh ya I was at school in the library and I read one of Linda's books there. The big red one; love signs.------------------ I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.-Poe If the truth is relative then there's nothing that is really true. I was always into the horoscopes/sun signs from the newspapers when I was a kid. Always asked "what's your sign?". Then, went through a Pluto/venus transit which made me go insane for a boy like no other, completely changed me. I turned to delving into astrology in an attempt to understand what the heck was happening with me. It definitely helped to channel my obsession otherwise I would have ended up in a straight jacket.
