I get why Gemini and Pisces are but I always get thrown back when I read Sagittarius.. They don't seem
mutable to me at all.. I'm friends with these people and had a relationship with one. Does anyone else see the mutability?

Strange coincidence that they all had manic depression but that's just coincidence. Sags in this forum are you "mutable"???

The ones I know all seem pretty darn mutable, even the ones with fixed Moons/Ascendants. They go with the flow and seem to have ADD.

Haa Haa.... I agree (as a Saggie with several mutable placements).

Mutable also means having the ability to adapt to various changes in environment, friends, circumstances (money / health) and jobs.

I've lived in many different states and overseas and being mutable I have been able to adapt and adopt (such as in Germany) the culture in that I understand and embrace it. Although my husband is in the Military we always choose to live off post and did the same in two separate villages outside of Schweinfurt and Grafenwohr and I even worked with German Military Families at a German installation to build relations between the the US and German Family Readiness groups.

As far as being Bi-Polar (which is the correct term for Manic Depressive) I am not and neither are the majority of Saggies that I know. We are, however, prone to times when we are more serious than others and times when we just want to be left alone and not be "on".

ETA- Traditionally Mutable applies to those signs born between two seasons- Gemini: Spring / Summer; Virgo: Summer / Fall; Saggie: Fall / Winter and Pisces: Winter / Spring.

Mutable in thought, too. They believe in one thing (REALLY believe it, too) one moment and then change their minds the next. This isn't a bad thing, necessarily. It's good to be open minded.

Well said, I knew you were a Sag right away because you opened your response with laughter. HAha

I would also like to add that Sagittarius is very focused on adaptation. Even our ruling planet Jupiter represents a person's ability to evolve and adapt to life on a grand scale. The more mentally focused Sag is often contemplating their experiences and formulating new ways to approach future situations. Sag's mind is often focused far away on a universal call driving us to keep galloping.

Though we are quite adamant about our personal philosophies, Sag can be very flexible in surrounding our selves with people who have different views, cultures, and experiences. If someone teaches us something that changes our philosophy, we will happily embrace it, but rarely have I met a Sag who is willing to change their philosophy without a good reason.

We can have a bit of an aversion to being forced to stay in one place, especially if we feel we are no longer capable of new experiences there. When I was younger, I kept jobs until they bored me. When I was done, I would just get up and leave without even telling my boss. It was almost like I couldn't suffer through being there for another minute and remaining there was a psychologically painful experience. Seasonally, Sag is the last hurrah before the slumber of winter. Our mutability (in my view) is found in the phrase "Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die".

Regarding the Bi-polarity thing, Sagittarius is a Bicorporial sign according to Ptolemy. Where Gemini shows a struggle or compromise between two minds, and Pisces shows a struggle or compromise between determined forces swimming against or with the current, Sag shows a struggle between our spiritual and animal natures. Sag Sun is either accompanied by a Scorpio, Sag, or Capricorn Mercury and a Libra, Scorpio, Sag, Capricorn, or Aquarian Venus. By nature Sag is an expressive, optimistic, and jovial energy, but mix it with heavier signs and high energy ups may have to share the same space with some pretty deep lows.

As an owner of Mercury in Sagittarius I can relate to some statements in this thread.

Same for me. I spent time in Germany and also found it easy to adapt. I have a Sag moon.

Yup. I always keep an open mind & I am known to say, "don't knock it till you try it" quite often.

I think it also depends on other placements.

It was mentioned "athletic or intellectual" A Saggie Sun w/ Scorpio placements, or Aries will do both.
