Maybe the whole Ascendant thing is overrated because its been giving me quite a headache? For as long as I have been into astrology, the ascendant position has held much intrigue for me.
Its always been, well atleast to me, the most changeable, flaky, fleeting yet(paradoxically) fascinating position in a chart.
Last night , my mom,sis and myself were having a conversation. Since my sister was celebrating her 17th birthday, I joked that she is not yet 17 until the clock strikes 17:00pm.
I said this jokingly because , in the past, my mom had mentioned that my sister was born in the evening "at around 17:00pm" and so I took her rising sign, according to astro.com as well as cafeastrology, to be Taurus.
She really does exude the qualities of Taurus and I never ever assumed that I could be wrong.
But last night , as I joked about this, my mom interrupted me and said that my sister was not born around that time , but much later.
This time, she said "around 20:00pm because I recall that it was dark outside."
Now this throws the whole thing offcourse as this changes her Asc from Taurus to Gemini? Huh?? I really didn't see that coming.
Later on my mom said "I recall when each of you were born."
I listened intently to see if she'd accurately recall when she said I was born and she continued.." You(meaning me) were born in the afternoon,at around 13:00 pm."
Now , all this time, I believed that I was born at Mid-day at about 15:00pm.
But with my other sister, she still remained accurate. Her asc, true to her time being 12:00 noon, is still Leo.
So now, I think I have a new ascendant(namely Aries). But Taurus, I believed, suited me so well. So that is why I find myself in this predicament. How certain can one be of their rising sign if the time that they were born in is not certain?
My mom, bless her, doesn't realize the relevance/ the importance of remebering the exact time. She keeps on changing positions about it.At some point, she even said it was "around 16:00pm". WTF???
Well, Librarising offers a solution: the best way to ascertain one's ascendant is to observe the people that one is drawn to continously in one's life.
So, if you are sorrounded by a lot of Arians in your life, then that may mean that your ascendant could be in that sign; namely Aries. If you ae sorrounded by Taurus, then Taurus etc.
But here is the problem. I agree that Taurians don't feature much in my life(even the moon being there), but I do have a lot of Gemin/Pisces people in my life. And if Pisces is rising than I would have been born much earlier than 13:00pm.
And with Gemini Ascendant, I would have been born at around 17:00pm. gawd!!!!
I looked at the Pisces rising character analysis, I can't say that I am indidfferent to it. But the Aries character really does bug me as I am NOT aggressive, in your face, annoying and "masculine" as the sign is described to be(on the other hand it could be a stereotype)
Falling short of going through extreme methods like "birth time rectification"(which in and of itself is not conclusive),how can one ascertain one's rising sign through a more simplistic approach?
Or is the rising sign something that someone like me should just discount as it has yet to bare a plausible conclusion?
