Just a curious topic for discussion-- which signs do you think are more likely to have tattoos? And if they get tattoos, do they likely fall into certain categories? For example, a Scorpio getting a fiery phoenix tattoo as opposed to a cupcake or something lighthearted. The question came up because a co-worker approached me and guessed I was a Scorpio based on my tattoos. I'm not a Scorpio, I'm a Libra Leo Moon, Merc&Venus in Scorpio. Do you think that's what gave off that aura? I have quite a few. One is astrology based, it's actually Anubis weighing the heart and feather on my ribs. I want to know everyone's sign and everyone's tattoos! I'm so curious, now! :P IP: Logged |

if that weighing tattoo isn't Scorpionic in itself, i don't know what is! don't know if you know this, but Libra actually was never even an original part of the zodiac.. libra was considered to be the claws of the scorpion. IP: Logged |

My friend has a Scorp stellium including her Sun and her tattoos aren't that deep. She has a heart on her neck, a crab on her thigh, Zozobra on her arm, a zombie on her back, a portrait of her cat on her leg and flowers with scissors on her other leg. They're all very colorful.IP: Logged |

Do you think that maybe the Scorpio influenced just getting multiple tattoos in a way so that she could channel negative energy? Even if the tattoos aren't deep, the pain behind them could be? I know that when I'm having a really hard time the first thing I want to do is go get some ink. Btw, the darkness of a zombie tat seems kind of scorpio! IP: Logged |

I am a Leo, Moon in Libra with Pluto in the 8th. I have two tattoos. One is the Leo glyph on my inner forearm, it is small, about a square inch – and I always said that when I get married I’ll get the guy’s glyph on my left. The other is a dove holding the inner swirl of a heart in its beak on my shoulder blade, it is about 3 inches long and about 2.5 inches wide and it is a swirly outline, not detailed. Both are just black outlines, I don’t like tattoos with color (on me) although people have suggested that I get the dove colored white because it would look good on my brown-tan skin. Maybe when I get a touch up although I have been saying that for years!I don’t know which signs are more likely to have them because there is such a mix of people with tattoos and people you wouldn’t expect to have them do because it became the “in” thing to do for a spell. I mean, sure, the guys I know who are in bands do but even the most buttoned-down, white-collar guys I know have their frat symbol tattoo or even religious tattoos. It is fun to find out because it is unexpected...

TuxedoMask, I did NOT know that! How does that explain those fluffy Librans? Virgo influence? IP: Logged |

Coloring the dove would look beautiful on tan skin! :P My flowers are colored in blue and white but I'm so pale that it looks like it's just my skin. You wouldn't be a waste of white ink. :P It is funny when people you wouldn't expect have tattoos, just wondering if there's some inside astrological linking to it. IP: Logged |

Well not to challenge you Tuxe, just to give another perspective, but I read that Libra was always in existence, the constellation was just re-identified as a result of an error. It was a constellation in itself but the ancients attributed it to a part of Scorpius by error of it's symbolism and shape until it was re-identified into Libra a separate constellation. In theory considering all of these constellations were named by humans none of them are actually what we think they are because scientifically they only have meaning because we've attributed it to them. They are in fact just meaningless pieces of the ever changing and growing Universe. It's like how scientists and astronomers originally identified Pluto as a planet and recently re-identified Pluto as a dwarf planet. It doesn't change its significance, it has just been re-identified. http://www.topastronomer.com/StarCharts/Constellations/Libra.php Too answer your question Noir, and Welcome to the forum, I don't have any tattoos. But I support anyone's decision to do so. I'm a Libra Sun and Mercury, Aries Moon and Mars. Conceptually I don't see their purpose because a tattoo exposes parts of who I am to the world. I don't want to be a walking advertisement. But I do think they are very cool and I enjoy looking at them.
I tend to think waters signs lean toward tattoos, just in my experience. Possibly fire signs too, they can be impulsive. I know very few Air signs that have tattoo's, Gemini's would seem like the most likely in my opinion because they're so spontaneous. I have a friend who's a Libra with Moon, Mercury and Mars in Scorpio. Her arms are covered in tattoos including a tattoo that says her first name nice and big on her shoulder. Very interesting. It's incredibly interesting! A friend of mine is Libra, Aries Moon, Merc and Venus in Scorpio and she is COVERED in tattoos as well. Maybe Scorpio is a big indicator of tattoos but the Libra side of them makes them not as afraid to advertise their feelings to the world. I think my Leo moon may have something to do with it. I find every opportunity possible to show off my artwork. IP: Logged |

She has some deep tattoos there. Did we figure out her birthday? :P If she's a water sign it'll say a lot for what we've been talking about. Tattoos on the shoulderblade are so pretty. It's funny, that's where I got my very first one. It says "Sometimes those of us who burn brightest have shakey flames." I've been addicted ever since. (That one was so painless that I went straight for my first rib piece. Don't ever do that unless you're mentally prepared. Intensely painful!) If you do get more, what do you plan on getting? hmmm... i probably could've worded it better; not saying libra never existed; the stars have been there.. it's why we use the zodiac constellations because they've been there for billions of years! but libra, the libra we know now, was never a part of the zodiac wheel... it used to be virgo, then scorpio... no libra. the myth behind hades, explains it even better.. he used to get his golden chariot and head out to seduce nymphs.. he'd have his way but would return to the underworld unsatisfied.. until, he one day saw persephone, daughter of demeter (goddess of agriculture; agriculture relates to virgo).. she was so beautiful that he had to have her.. which is what libra could be and why it's planetary ruler would be venus.. there's the story of pirithous and his friend, who even tried to go out for persophone though she was already married(libra; partnership).. they kidnapped helen for his friend and pirithous wanted persephone; either way one looks at it, there's a duality associated with the story which i think works well with libra. persephone is daughter of zeus (jupiter/sagittarius) and demeter (goddess of agriculture/virgo).. hades being representation of scorpio, persephone would only be fitting between demeter and hades. persephone couldn't go back to her mother for the full year because she had eaten six pomegranate seeds (six months before it's spring again; seeds being representation of the harvest reaped by virgo) so she would spend half her time in the world with her mother (which is when spring would begin again) and would have to return to hades once fall/winter got near. if their relationship weren't to do with duality enough(claws/marriage/the seeds/seasons/two guys seeking her out in the underworld) heracles (taught by chiron, represented by sagittarius) was the one that had to go to the underworld to try to save both guys... he was able to save theseus (who later had a son names hippolyptus; name i would think sounds a lot like 'thesis', his son hippolyptus (esis-yptus) i would think is what heracles left the underworld with, (hypothesis; scorpio/pluto dealing with mysteries/introspection) resulting in sagittarius, the following sign... pirithous was said to have been lost in the underworld after hades sat them down once they got to talking things out in the chair of 'forgetfulness'. hades=death/forgetting sagittarius=9th sign(time frame before fetus is born/reborn) philosophy, expansion, ideals.. hades was brother (kin-side by side) of zeus (sagittarius).. and demeter(virgo) was sister to zeus.. persephone was daughter of zeus and demeter (both mutable signs). she had persephone after zeus asked her to marry poseidon (pisces) and demeter refused and had a husband of her own.. zeus killed the guy and in turn, impregnated demeter with persephone.. had the two guys not gone to the underworld to try to get her, i would really not think anything of it or them being representation of gemini(mutable; adjustment) or persephone of libra(cardinal; action; balance; 360/12=30)... it helps to know that hades' chariot had 4 horses.. had libra not been included as it was in the past when it was just the claws of the scorpion, there'd be 32.--- degrees for each sign.. there was no error, nothing about any of it is ever an error... the fact that the abduction suggests something that was done by force, dunno, think it explains lots. libra rising: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NldZuOeVgrA (sag sun; venus conj south node) IP: Logged |

Nope, not really. The thing about it is, most people we hang out with have lots of tattoos. My other friend is a Cap and she has more tattoos (and piercings) than the Scorp I mentioned... Although they're not as involved. I have one (and a septum piercing). I would have more but I don't have money for them.

I've noted the difference and realize Tuxe that your source is Ancient Myths related to Astrology and you've cited that to support your argument and I'm citing science and astronomy to support mine. If you study astronomy regardless of Greek or Roman Myths, there was a scientific error in identifying the constellation of Libra, a factual error. And there are actually many other constellations in the skies that haven't been accounted for which of course Astrology doesn't take into consideration because of it's Ancient roots. Many of these myths were created by ancients who didn't know much scientifically about the stars or universe. I don't follow myths because they're just stories made by people which means they're completely subjective. I keep learning that Astrology has very little to do with any actual science or even astronomy. I'm heavy Air and only follow science, it's completely by chance that I got into astrology. Thanks for taking the time to clarify. IP: Logged |

I'm a Sag Sun / Venus in Sag / Aries moon with a Virgo rising and Pluto conjunct the ACS in the 1st house (with 2 degrees). I have an Apache war shield with the fire clan representative- The Thunderbird on one ankle. One of my two Animal Spirit guides, the black panther on my other ankle A Mandala with my second Animal Spirit guide- War horse on the inside. The horse has a brand with my Sag glyph and my husband's Leo glyph on his neck. My husband- Leo Sun / Pisces Moon / Venus in Virgo with Pluto conjuncting his Venus in the 1st house has one tat- his family crest but plans on getting two more once he is out of the Military.
All my tats can be covered and don't show when I am wearing pants. I love what they mean to me but I also love that only I know that I have them unless I want to show them IP: Logged |

I always had an affinity towards horses. I attributed that to my love of animals and being a Sag but it went further. When I had a problem or when something was coming, I would dream of the horse or the panther. I once posted (my old username is pidaua) about the Panther and the Horse. They appear at different times with different advice. What I remember most vividly is laying down next to Panther in a grassy field and I could feel the warmth of his body and his steady breathing. He told me to follow the ways of the panther and that instead of always rushing to the fight or to things, to be like the panther and watch, wait and then when it is right, pounce. The horse is the same way but often points me into a direction that I may not thought of or shows me what I haven't thought to see (because I am usually running in so many directions- work, home, family, friends,etc...). I could watch panthers (or any cat for that matter) and horses for hours and just be lost in the beauty. ETA.. what do you mean by "u have a bag". Is that slang? IP: Logged |
