Partly, but not ideally.
Mars can be a bit rough around the edges.
So it can as easily evoke sexual feelings as it can evoke anger/hostility/frustration. Volatile and impulsive.
It's best if you have a Mars-Venus conjunction for amazing sexual chemistry and attraction.
And even better if you can have some stabilizing factors in the synastry along with the Mars square (Sun/Moon aspects, Saturn to personal planets or NN to personal planets etc.).
