Topic: Unwise to Guess Ascendants (?)

I've been attempting to discern this Virgo guys Asc. He doesn't readily know, yes he can find out, but I'm not waiting on that. [No hassling of birthtimes, he'll wonder wth?! just as I would tables turned] Has anyone effectively reviewed Rising sign notations and weeded it down to at least two? Yeahhhh there are many astrologers who do rectification but I want to know if I need to quit it and forget it... IP: Logged |

I've been torn between Leo or Sag. I've kinda affixed him to a "fire" modality (?) He's a very charismatic guy. Magnetic...walks into a room and owns it. Tall, cordial, optimistic. Very intelligent. He stays awares of social issues. He likes to go out A LOT too much for my tastes! But he's like the "must have" of social affairs...Very warm, powerful intital impression... IP: Logged |

there are a few characteristics that i've noticed when it comes to ascendant and they're few.. so i try my hardest to not even mention anything dealing with houses and sometimes the moon depending on what degree it's on because of 'uncertainty'..it's best to just kinda wait it out.  IP: Logged |

You're absolutely right. However I'm so drawn to avoiding the easy route (even though in this case, easy route has little relevance) and its more about piecing the "puzzle" Like I'm testing my ability to read people you could say. Its been rather interesting to attempt at it. Then when the affirmation arrives "Voila!" It will be exciting to see if my guess is dead-on or dead wrong  IP: Logged |

So its good to at least break down the elements. And much like Ami Anne stated, I couldn't pin him to an Arian Ascendant at all. He's sooo not like that.Another thing I've done of course is tip toe down his houses. Rectifying what I know for certain what applies and what really doesn't based upon his lifestyle and lifes events thus far. At the moment they still indeed tip more on the Lions side...even while there really isn't enough substantially to go on.. IP: Logged |

Yes. I find ot extrmely unwise, especially here. There isn't a single person here who is qualified enough to guess ascendants based on a picture. We're all novices. Even professionals don't do it based on looking at a few pictures, they rectify charts based on transits and progressions of important events based on a person's life. The ascendant is EXTREMELY important and to base one's ascendant on a picture is unhelpful.My two cents. Well to ALL responders I send many thanks. Even those that opt against this, I asked for your opinions and they're equally valued as a newbie that I am!  Amowls, yes you shined light that its not that simple. I'm pretty sure I have much, much more time to grasp everything, none of this is simple by far. Honestly? This type of thing is nearly impossible to guess in my experience. I've constantly seen astrologers, for example, peg someone with a Scorpio ascendant, when they aren't because they have Pluto conjunct their sun or something; or insist someone must be a Pisces ascendant, when it turns out they're not but they have Neptune angular...I really think that people end up resembling the strongest planetary energies in their chart more than anything else and nine times out of ten, won't fit the stereotypical physical descriptions of their ascendant sign.
