Well, I'm on this online dating site and sometimes I respond to messages people send me. That guy, an Aqua, asked me if I like a particular song, which in all honesty I told him I find it stupid (and apologized for my directness but he asked my opinion and there it was). And I wrote a bit about my view of this type of questions (Aqua rising here), i.e. I find it almost childish to respond to such questions about my "favorite" music, my favorite book, and so on so forth. I have lots of favorites and honestly they change every week; I'm a very open-minded person and with few extreme exceptions (where I have reasons to reject before I ever try it), I will try anything once. Other guys would have come back to write something insulting, or demeaning, or offensive. Most guys do. And I simply block them; who wants to read their sorry a**. But this Aqua Sun, responded to my message with a message of his own and now we have a highly intellectual exchange of opinions on the topic. LOL I don't know if it's better or worse, but it's surely is typical Aqua. IP: Logged |

The impersonal-ness does have its advantages! I also think it's silly to base matches on favorite movies/musical selection. How is one supposed to grow from a relationship with your carbon copy, first of all....and secondly, as you pointed out, these "favorites" are dynamic. And anyway, a lot of people seem to list every movie as their favorite so I doubt anyone cares to read through the whole thing. IP: Logged |

Exactly, and at 41 (soon to be 42 yikes) I find it such an unappealing way for a man to approach me. Kudos to him for responding with his view instead of being the same with the rest of the crowd. But yeah what a turn-off to be asked about music like we're in High School. IP: Logged |

I have Aquarius rising and can relate to this. Well, I have mercury in Aries so when people ask me questions that I find stupid or whatever (which happens a lot in my age group since I'm a typical young, broke college kid) I get really sarcastic, nasty or rude. That seems pretty aquarian to me though (his response...turning it into a intellectual debate).IP: Logged |

Yes, I love how he turned it into an intellectual debate, exactly. I even gave in and suggested a song I like, with the subtext that if he likes it too, it doesn't say much to me about him... lol I just can't relate to this kind of small talk... I know a million other people would have no problems with this type of thing, but I just I'm not in that million I guess. His reaction won me over though.

Sounds pretty cool I'm pretty good at small talk, as long as it has an aim or direction and not just random pointless talk, if ya know what I mean :P IP: Logged |
