Are you talking attraction Sand? If so what I find attractive I wouldn't necessarily consider mainstream it just works for me. I don't think anything I do is influenced by the public, I might hide things as a result of public opinion but my views aren't shaped or influenced by public opinion.

It's not so much about aspects to me as it is more about sign placements and elemental makeup. Electric appearances, but homely, striking eyes, nice smile. Dominant Uranus in a chart, that's my preference.

Don't you have Leo Moon hovering the MC?
MC and the Moon and the Nodes all relate to the public.

I disagree re:Saturn.
I should know w. Capricorn Venus aspect Saturn. I couldn't care less what those around me think of who I date.
Mars is conj Saturn too.
And Saturn is angular.
Capricorn Moon too, tho that one may not count as much.

Interesting, but when I think of “influenced by the public” I think of the word “conformity” and that is just a part of what Saturn represents so I think it is something to consider.

Conformity and Saturn? Yes I have. Since Saturn is the planet of conformity, discrimination, conservatism and limitations it would have an effect on type or who one is attracted to. Type conformity does not always equal looks either, it can also be someone who goes for a "stand up" person or someone who "looks good on paper". They wouldn't go after what they think is an "irresponsible hot mess" is what I am saying. That wouldn't "look good".

^ I meant for the topic at hand: conforming to what society expects you to choose for a mate.
Have you seen this often in charts of people who do that? Dominant Saturn, or Saturn aspecting Venus/Mars/DSC, whatever the case may be.
Not just the idea of conformity in general, actual cases.

I've seen Leo Venus/Mars conj (for some reason have met a lot w.that conjunction) being sensitive to what society expects of the partner choice. Their standards went along w.what mainstream said was attractive.
Or maybe since they had Venus/Mars in Leo their standard is the Hollywood/glamour type. That seems more accurate.
Or they want a partner that many will drool over. That could be the case too, they were like that as well.

I know of two people with Saturn conjunct the AC (Saturn in Cap & Saturn in Aquarius) who date the “stand-up” types as opposed to someone “weird”. I know a lot of Capricorn Suns who date and marry the person who “looks good” – not in terms of looks but on paper. Saturn in the 10th woman (Saturn in Scorpio opp Mars in Taurus) who is 28 and actually takes what her family thinks into consideration when she decides to date someone. Leo with Moon conjunct Saturn (Venus trine Saturn) who likes their dates to “look good” to others.

ETA: The Saturn Ascs that I am referring to are also insecure so what other people think matters to them, no matter how much they protest...

I agree with that, the Leo man has Mars in Leo as well...I have Venus in Leo conjunct the DC and I prefer a man who is little showy...

Stand up type doesn't really apply to the topic.

"I know a lot of Capricorn Suns who date and marry the person who “looks good” – not in terms of looks but on paper"
---Looks good on paper? Bank balance, etc.?

"Saturn in the 10th woman (Saturn in Scorpio opp Mars in Taurus) who is 28 and actually takes what her family thinks into consideration when she decides to date someone."
---This one makes sense, because of Saturn's placement.

"Leo with Moon conjunct Saturn (Venus trine Saturn) who likes their dates to “look good” to others."
---This one applies.
But then there's the Leo Moon....
It'd be good to have a case where there was no strong Leo influence involved. More cases, I mean. Leo kinda clouds the view for me lol.

I think that “stand up” does apply to the topic because it did not specify “appearance only”. A real “stand up guy” is a solid man with a good reputation.

By “on paper” I mean has the “right” job, hangs with the “right” people, looks appropriate to the community and family. If you had their resume it would look good before you even saw them, that type of thing. I know a lot of Capricorns who feel that way – they don’t like the girl with “the reputation”.

The Leo does not have a Leo Moon, he has a Taurus Moon and Leo Mars.

It seems that Saturn/Cap is interested in reputation (which is defined as “The beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something. Or: A widespread belief that someone or something has a particular habit or characteristic.") more than what the public says about looks...

ETA: Oh yeah! I know one Cap (forgot his dob) and one Aquarius with Saturn opp Sun and Venus and sq Moon who have had “secret girlfriends” – the ones that they would not be seen with in public but would romance them in private…

I think that should be a bigger indicator, who are those guys who have the secret relationships because they are ashamed of their women?

But how is this expressly related to Saturn? Most women (and men) want this. And then those who don't want the sorta messed up person with the bad rep. This is how it tends to be. That leaves room for 2 distinct influences.
The following quote I see as a stand up guy as well, so I think the same about it re:charts,
quote:
"By “on paper” I mean has the “right” job, hangs with the “right” people, (...)"

I'm thinking again on your Saturn conj Asc examples. The idea is not of the partner in that case, it is about them. Maybe related to their insecurity, like you say.

i was talkin to my college classmate and she pretty much considers others, like anonymous people on twitter (ugh lol!), opinions when choosing bf's. or she asks everyone else. she is a semi public persona i guess which may be important. she has sag sun, aries rising, mc in cap..

Got it. Well kind of following up on my original post I'm dominant Uranus, which I'm also attracted too and there's not a drop of caring about what other people say in relation to my viewpoints. I've been friends with some pretty shady characters all because I avoided the opinions of friends and family. The surprising thing is those shady characters half the time turned out to be good and descent people.

I don't really know what aspects would make some one conventional and main stream besides heavy earth placements, possibly Capricorn. Like was mentioned Leo likes attention but I haven't met to many Leos that would change their viewpoints based on what other people think. But those are just a wild guesses. As an Airy person I don't give a hoot what other people think about my likes or dislikes. I tend to shock people with the things I enjoy and hate. I don't follow conventions, I don't support conventional thinking, and I don't participate in anything mainstream.

I have a secret method though, in order to avoid distaste from certain outsiders I usually keep my radical opinions hidden (Mercury in the 8th). And continue to do as a I please.
