I wouldn't say that I have a photographic memory but I have a super excellent one and my friends get shocked if I don't remember things.Photographica I think conjuncts my Gem rising. Mercury in Taurus or even my Cancer moon that rules the 3rd. There are times I wish I didn't have a good memory and feel relieved, as I age the memories decrease. IP: Logged |

Honestly, I feel fairly certain my mom had a photographic memory. She had the ability to memorize phone numbers and all kinds of other data, pretty much instantly. I believe that as a child I had one but I lost the ability. In school I always excelled during spelling class because at the beginning of the week when we started a new set of words, I'd stare at them in the textbook for a few seconds, basically taking a mental snapshot of them and the entire page they were on, then at the end of the week during the spelling test I'd just close my eyes and pull the page up and take the test. As I got older I lost the ability and I'm known more for being forgetful than anything else, although when it comes to certain subject matter my memory is still good, almost to the point of freakiness. It never occurred to me that it might be linked to Pluto, I figured it was more a Neptune thing, similar to actual photography - with it being about the ability to remember images and data in photo-like quality, and everything. I just pulled up my chart to check and I have Mercury aspecting both Neptune and Pluto. My mom didn't have mercury aspecting pluto, but it's in a water sign, and aspects neptune as well. IP: Logged |

I have a photographic memory. I've had it my whole life. It helped me excel in Math and Science growing up. It helped me get honors in High School and College. I'm intelligent but not ambitious or particularly motivated, when the class wasn't subjective for example a class like "Critical Reading and Interpretive Literature" I could apply my powerful abilities of recall. I also do photography and I see life in images. If it is print or a visual image it's mentally stored and can immediately be recalled. However having these skills does a number on my brain. I used to get a lot of headaches and I deal with excessive nervous energy which makes it difficult to relax. I'm always anxious and not able to slow down my racing mind. I guess it's the price that comes with the gift. I have Mercury in Libra in the 8th in harmony with my whole chart. It's Trine my Ascendant, Sextile my Saturn, Uranus, Venus, and opposite my Moon. I think it's Mercury in the 8th in good aspect to the remainder of my natal chart.

Yes, unaspected moon. Unaspected or feral planets indicate something unusual about them. I think the moon rules memory, at least the emotion based one, so excellent memory could be that something unusual about the void moon. People with strong lunar influence like the Moon or the Sun in Cancer probably have a good memory. The aspect to the ASC from the void moon may be something else. My moon is also in Gemini and the last degrees of this sign is equally ruled by Mercury and Saturn. Putting these two together... mental focus?

hey, i also have my mercury in libra! but it's in my12thHouse tho i gotta agree with you about how a picture usually get stucked in ur head, that happens to me too! sometimes when i'm in an actual exam and i'm trying to remember somthing i read from a book, i tend to remember what the page looks like and then i slowly remember whatever is written on it as if i'm reading the book right in front of me. But this only happens when i'm really interested in the subject otherwise, i'm just as normal as others, i'm not a genius you knoww! oh btw, i also have a virgo sun which makes me critical when it comes to my studies IP: Logged |

I have a steel-strong memory for certain things (numbers, images) but a horrible memory for other things (names, words). I could literally tell you the birthday of every single person I've known from first grade onward -- teachers, friends, classmates, acquaintances, relatives, friends' parents, and even near-strangers who happened to mention their birthday at some point. The number just sticks permanently in my head. Same goes for phone numbers. I only have about three people on the contact list on my phone and dial the rest from memory. The only way I can remember words is if I look at them as "pictures" (a combination of black lines and curves against the page) and read the words from a snapshot in my brain. Otherwise, I can read a word 2,000 times and I'll still forget it two minutes later. (The worst is when I remember someone's birthday but have forgotten their name. "Oh hey... you! Happy birthday!"). I have Uranus and Neptune in the 3rd house, Neptune trine Mercury (in Taurus), Mercury opposition Pluto, Pluto in the 1st house, and Mercury square my Leo moon in the 10th house. I feel it's related to the Uranus/Neptune in the 3rd trine Mercury, most of all. IP: Logged |

I know quite a few people with photographic memories, but only know the charts of two of them. Both have Pluto opposite Mercury, with Pluto sextile Neptune and Neptune in a trine with Mercury. So, it's a Neptune-Pluto-Mercury setup. I have Neptune opposite Mercury, with Mercury trine Pluto, and Pluto sextile Neptune. NO photographic memory! Rats! Wish I did. However, when I was younger, I was told I had a partial photographic memory. I could remember where a sentence was on a page, but not actually "read" the sentence in my head. I could tell you that the sentence was in the middle of the page, second column. Something like that. Not the whole sentence. Now my memory is pure crud. Ugh. What a drag it is getting old... what about sense memory?taurus planets (sensual) touching mercury (mind)? or even a taurus merc? quote: Researchers who work with memory have learned that the five senses can play a very significant role in the process of making, storing, and retrieving memories. Smell in particular is very evocative, as the olfactory bulb is located right next to the part of the brain that handles memory storage, so people tend to create strong links between smells and particular memories. Many people have strong associations with a huge variety of smells, ranging from “my grandmother's house” to “that one really good meal,” and smell is sometimes used in marketing to recall such memories and encourage people to buy things. The senses of touch, hearing, sight, and taste can also play a role in sense memory, although these senses are not as directly as involved as the sense of smell. If you close your eyes for a moment, you may be able to visualize the inside of your kitchen, remember what it feels like to pet an animal, evoke the taste of a piece of fruit, or recall a particular chord in a favorite song. In these cases, the sensational experience is stored in the mind along with the memory of the event.
term comes from acting. specifically method acting. quote: Within the realm of acting theory, people use “sense memory” to talk about recalling memories which can be used to more fully inhabit a character on stage. For example, when an actor wants to get into the mood for a sad scene, he or she might use sense memory to reconstruct a funeral or other sad event. Rather than just acting sad, the actor momentarily is sad as he or she remembers the sound of the rain on umbrellas, the feel of a clot of earth, and the smell of lilies around the grave.Affective memory is a controversial technique. Several acting techniques and methods rely on sense memory to improve acting skills, and proponents of these schools of acting argue that their acting feels more real and believable when they harness sense memory. Other people believe that the concept is dubious at best, and that people tend to use it as a crutch on stage, rather than refining their skills in other ways.
