I'm especially interested in aspects to angles -- at what point does an orb become too wide to notice?

When it comes to sun & moon, I think you can feel it at wider orbs.

But for most planets, I suspect it stops being relevant at about 6 degrees unless it is conjunct or part of a stellium.

What do you think?

This is a good question.......my mercury squares neptune but by 9 degrees orb and people keep saying that mercury/neptune aspects that are challenging can mean compulsive lying which I am not this way at all perhaps the orb is too big to really be a significant influence in my chart.

Anyone knows what is a good orb to go by with Neptune aspects???

Amelia - I'd say 3 degrees at most - for a Neptune square, because it is a generational planet. For a conjunction I'd go to 6/7 maybe.
There are always different opinions on this topic though!
It could be more prominent if you had Gemini or Pisces on your angles (AC/DC/IC/MC).

Ya, I'd only use a 10 degree orb when the Sun/Moon are involved - and when the aspect is with another personal planet.
The only exception are planets that rule angles.. For example, if someone has Capricorn AC and Libra MC.. and their Saturn is conjunct their Venus (with a 10 deg orb)... that can still be felt imo

ooh that's a nice rule. i have a sun venus conj that doesn't show up using the default at astro.com. it's around 10 degrees (a lil over). venus is ruler of my descendant.

i don't really like claiming nice aspects that aren't really mine lol so i don't consider it much.

Good question.

Thing is I've noticed I feel some stuff in my chart where the orbs are REALLY wide, like 9 degrees (Sun trine Neptune; Mars square Pluto).

I was about to say I have this square and someone told me it was too wide to feel but I disagreed. I do find myself telling little white lies, but there's always a reason for it and it's never to pump myself up or because I'm trying to hide something. Anyway my point being you're right, because I have Gemini ASC. I wish you could tell that person (the one who told me the square was no big deal) a thing or two... he was a Scorpio sun, Sagittarius rising and Sagittarius moon. As you know, they're NEVER wrong... Square can carry out wide orb. I usually prefer up to 5 degree for an aspect.
