Ex. Sun conjunct Pluto seems very powerful. Now would you say that is one of the most "powerful aspects" or does it come down to calculations like orbs that determine an aspect's power. Another example" Venus trines Jupiter seems pretty strong but mathematically it is probably weak. How does it work?

Conjunctions to the Sun automatically emphasize the strength of a planet. The closer the orb, the stronger the influence. Conjunctions are stronger aspects than trines so a wider conjunction is stronger than a close trine. Partile (exact) aspects typically win out at the end of the day re:major influence in the life, esp the closest major aspect.
The weakest major aspect is a sextile, so that trine is not so bad
