I guess I was inspired by the “mean” thread…

Okay, I have never liked nice guys. I like arrogant men who have an "eh, leave me alone" vibe. I need that "edge". I am friends with the nice guys and nothing more...

I am usually standing behind these boyfriends mouthing the words "no!", "sorry" or "he's kidding!" after he mocks or is rude to someone else who might not understand where he is coming from...

I like that they are nice to me though, that is all that matters. They can be jerks to the world, as long as they are nice to me(and their families, I don't like total monsters) then it is all good. I like that they show me that other side. Although, I do like to be on the receiving end of a little sarcasm and some (cute) mocking.

What I have noticed is that my Capricorn and Leo exes are flirts who can say rude things to women and the women eat it up. They are so good looking and have sort of an, I don't know, evil charm, that they usually get away with it.

I don't know if it is about liking mean guys as much as it is about my liking to be the nice, sweet, “angel” of the relationship. I mean I am the type of person who says "yay!" - without being sarcastic - at least twice a day…Relatives teasingly call me “Smiley”…When I was 3 I created the word “Glappy” (glad and happy rolled into one)…In other words, I am super nice…

My (Taurus) ex was obviously not nice and he was even a little sneery with people. His facial expression always read "I am not amused". I said he was sweet one time and he was taken aback by that and said "uh, thank you for thinking I am ‘sweet’?" As if it was a question, lol. He obviously hadn't been told that in a while (or ever. He does have a pretty afflicted Venus, maybe it hardened him, poor baby)...

I mean they all have had great senses of humor, mostly dry and sarcastic (although the Leos were more on the silly side), so they didn't completely hate life, they just had that edge, that attitude...

Funny enough, they are usually the biggest babies who cannot get over break-ups. Or even, if I got mad or was in a bad mood then they became the begging type...

I want to hear some jerk boy stories! Who else likes the arrogant pricks? Or men, do you prefer b/witchy women? What aspects would point to this? Is it just the “opposites attract” thing for you or are you the same way?

As for my chart, I have lots of stuff in the (what else? Leo ruled) 7th and Mars in the 5th but I need some more ideas about what I should look for...

i do find dry and sarcastic people funny.

it's my merc in aries opposing pluto in scorpio.

do you prefer b/witchy women

oh noez lol! i wouldn't call them that. they were sweet to me but alot of people call my exes that word or find them unapproachable/ intimidating. IME virgo, cancer, leo can be abit cranky, moody, i dunno haughty. i guess some could lump all those under bitchy at times lol!

can't be opposites attract for me coz i have personal planets/ac in the sign opp and even square my taurus sun.

aww lol well leos are fixed so they might take a longer moving on..

i think cap/ scorp placements for the dry and sarcastic..

ima no on the rude tho for both sexes LOL! arrogant i get along with guys that have abit of this trait on first impression. they should have redeeming qualities of course or at least do it in jest and not mean it. i think there are those that exalt themselves and those that put other people down. i like the exalters more..

A guy I dated has Moon in Taurus trine Saturn and Venus in Capricorn trine 7th House Mars in Virgo. Leo DSC. I think he liked it when I kept giving him the cold shoulder at first. From the tone of his voice when the subject came up, he doesn't get turned on by nice or sweet girls. He likes divas. I think that's his Leo descendant's preference.

I love sweet innocent guys despite my Mars-Pluto square and Mars-Saturn trine. I have a Pisces DSC. So I guess the descendant is an indicator for preferred personality type in a partner.

You are right about that, there is kind of a double standard. I glorified arrogance in men yet used b!tchy for women. Well, I did say arrogant pricks!

Oddly enough, the Scorpio ex was the least like the Leo/Cap/Taurus guys. He was nice (in a phony way) and somewhat doormat-ish (also, did not ring true) and was not funny at all. He was too sensitive when it came to himself yet he was verbally/emotionally abusive towards me (I'm not into that). I noticed that with him I became the rude/not nice one, a little bit of a switcheroo. He had more planets in Libra and Sagittarius than Scorpio though so that is probably why he had the nice façade (not that it is a façade on Libras or Sags, it just didn't "go" with the way he actually was)...

Good call Capriquarius - I have that Leo DSC and two of the Leos I dated have a Pisces DSC!

Oh man, if someone tries to set me up and says that the guy is "a sweetheart" I do that gagging gesture thing, I am so not into that! Take them Capriquarius, take them all!

Ok downtomars, then I guess the worst thing a guy could say to you about a past connection is "She used me for sex" ?

Well, that was the best thing I've ever heard

I have a pisces-desc. and the ruler of it in the 4th and euh.. ofcourse Mars square Moon!

Aahh! You are right Mir, that is bad, but you reminded me of something a guy said that was even worse "she treated sex like an oil change..."! Yup, Mr. Sensitive went right in "The Friend Zone"!

Women who like arrogant men:

1. Venus in Aries (a love of aggression)

2. AC in Aries (likes a battle as foreplay)

3. Venus square Mars (they just have a war against all things romantic & attract others who feel the same way)

4. A lack of fire signs in the natal chart (because when you are in an extreme of submissiveness - you can attract someone who is TOO assertive)

5. Lots of mutable placements (not much fixed or cardinal) - (because they want to be with someone who is strong minded and knows what he wants.. since they are often undecided)

Men who like bit*chy women:

1. Any placement in Aries (They just love to instigate and be instigated.... The Capricorn in me gags but I'm sure there are people out there who like this about them)

2. Mars square Mercury (They like a girl who is rude and tells it like it is.. They don't want to be with someone who is easily offended)

3. Mars square Venus (As their female counterparts - perhaps worse - they also have a war against everything romantic from valentines day to dating books & attract like-minded women)

4. Mars square Moon (They just need some friction to even feel 'in love')

5. Sometimes Leo placements (because they are playful and they like being teased, but they wouldn't like a full blown bit*ch)

6. Venus in Scorpio (as opposed to Leo ^ - they do like and attract full blown bit*ches or simply girls who end up hurting them badly whether intentionally or unintentionally)

----
For the record - this is what puts me off most in a relationship/dating context. Any sign of arrogance - and I'm *out* lol
It's interesting that I feel this way since I do have an Aries Sun. But I really love and appreciate calm, peace and quiet (Pisces Merc/Taurus Venus/Cap Mars). I do not feel attracted to instigating people at all, not even slightly. When a guy like this is attracted to me, it makes me uncomfortable - I basically just avoid him. It's like a red flash light for me that say *immaturity* - *child looking for a mother to tell him off* - *extra responsibility you do not need* lol

If I ever ended up with a person who seems arrogant socially (as you described in the first post) - it would be a huge effort.. He'd have to have such positive, amazing qualities and personality traits - that I would somehow decide to put up with this flaw in his personality -- but it's very unlikely.

That being said- when it comes to friends or acquaintances.. I could befriend anyone. I actually have no standards LOL They can be rebellious or arrogant and what not. Nothing bothers me in friendship.. But if someone gets closer, they better not thread on my toes in any way.

My friend has Venus in Aries, which I also mentioned above. She lovesssss the bad boy type. She's all over them. She thinks it's fun.
Since I know her really well - I came to the conclusion that this is because of differences in our life-experience and childhood. I had a very 'happening' life with lots of highs and lows.. lots of drama. So now I just want to relax... I don't need more drama.
She says her life is boring and nothing interesting ever happens.. She's gone traveling a lot just for the adventure, because she gets bored easily. I'm the opposite (not about traveling - I love traveling lol) but I don't feel my life is boring. I like it when everything is running smoothly and there are no problems. I feel very grateful for that, since for a long time when I was younger... things were not so easy.
If - as a child/teen you had to hear a lot of verbal abuse in the background - your parents arguing and so on.. you probably wouldn't be that into arrogance either. It gets a bit a unnerving after a while and ear phones don't always help.

I do love people with a great sense of humour who also have an edge. This is kind of the way I see myself and I can click with people who are similar. But I don't see a guy or a girl like this - as an arrogant pri*ck.. just a confident person who knows who s/he is.

They end up in arrogant *prick* or *bi*tch basket - when their behaviour turns nasty, rather than funny.

Thank you for your insight Betty Boop! This is how I measure up...

1. Venus in Aries (a love of aggression)

My Venus is in Leo, so both fire, I do enjoy aggression...

2. AC in Aries (likes a battle as foreplay)

My AC is in Aquarius...

3. Venus square Mars (they just have a war against all things romantic & attract others who feel the same way)

I don't have this aspect but I do have Moon square Venus. I wouldn't say I that have a war against or that my feelings go against all things romantic though. I just like the arrogant outward persona, not the rotting from within evil or criminal types.

The guys I date are actually quite romantic, and in traditional ways too (flowers, making dinner, planning trips)...

4. A lack of fire signs in the natal chart (because when you are in an extreme of submissiveness - you can attract someone who is TOO assertive)

My Sun, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter are in Leo, all in the 7th though, with Venus conjunct my DC...

5. Lots of mutable placements (not much fixed or cardinal) - (because they want to be with someone who is strong minded and knows what he wants.. since they are often undecided)

I have 2 planets in mutable signs, Saturn in Virgo (7th) and Sagittarius in Neptune (11th)...ETA: whoops, I forgot about Mars in Gemini (5th)...

So I'm thinking in my case, with the Leo 7th house and most of my personal planets there, it could be about projection (ya think?!). I mean, when I was with the Scorpio I turned into a b!tch on wheels because he was so "wimpy" in my eyes, so I do have it in me, I just don't enjoy being that way...

Where do you draw the line between arrogance and confidence?

Cross swords with me at work and you're just dead. I will slay you and cut off your head and chop it up.

My ex was like that. Very good looking but a total ******* . Took himself way too seriously, too. I hate guys that take themselves too seriously. He's a Pisces with a Leo Moon and Cancer Rising.

My current boyfriend is the nicest guy ever and I'm the ******* lol. But he secretly has an edge. He makes very crude jokes which I'm sure would shock his acquaintances ("I'm going to eat your period p*ssy 'til I get clown mouth"). He is a Cancer Sun, Virgo Moon, Gen Rising with Venus and Mars in Leo.

I've learned that I much prefer nice guys over dbags. Now, I din't like SIMPLE guys. You can be nuce without being completely pollyanna.

See, yeah, I love the "work monster"! I think maybe the line is: Do you keep the work personality going with the general public? Because with the men I date it is hard for them not to. Especially with the ones who work in and around NYC. With the impatience, fast pace, “evil charm” (someone please tell me the word I am looking for) it tends to spill over and that is, to me, when it becomes arrogance and I don’t think it is bad.

That is what I like. An “Alpha Male” I guess. But yes, these men were surprisingly sweet at home. Still with some gentle mocking, sarcasm and, no question, they are "in charge" but they have a "soft spot" for the girlfriend or the wife and his family (especially the mother in my experience).

That is the thing though, "surprisingly sweet", no one would really know this because they are not all around nice guys.

Raunchiness is good and the Caps tend to get really dirty (and the Taurus was a big, pleasant surprise in that area because he seemed so straight-laced). See, with my Scorpio (Moon in Pisces) ex I thought I could deal with a nice guy with a hidden edge (because he would get pretty raunchy too) BUT...

I was with him when he was at the store requesting a price adjustment on something that didn't really qualify for it (different model numbers or something). Okay, he turned into Ross from Friends. He was whiny, nervous and didn't get anything accomplished. I was embarrassed; the guy who worked at the store was more aggressive than he was! He was even trying to get my attention in front of my boyfriend! And the Scorpio was a more physically imposing man! I didn't even want to sleep with him after witnessing that. (Whoa, Bio lesson in a jar!)

If I slot any other ex into this scenario it would have ended with the guy who worked there, or even a manager, "sir"-ing him to death and apologizing for the inconvenience. Heck, if I put myself into the scenario I could have charmed the adjustment out of him (yes, I use the Venus DSC and Moon in Libra sometimes, no shame in my game)!

I'm not saying that I would want a man who would cause a scene, punch the guy or get verbally abusive but to me it is obvious when an Alpha type wants something done as opposed to a "nice guy". Nice guys finish last after all.

Interesting BP...maybe it is the differences in Mars/Venus? Do you prefer "sweethearts" or more of a middle of the road type? Or, do you prefer to be the aggressor?

The thing is, it's almost impossible to succeed in NYC in a corporate career without being a ruthless Alpha Male, especially in the Wall Street banking business I'm in. I just make sure never to take that personality home. At work, I'm fair but I'm a merciless task master, a dictator and a ruthless foe. I end each day removing the daggers out of my back, so I show no empathy to my enemies.

I like confident, self assured women. If they have to be known as "bitchy" then so be it. All my ex-girlfriends would eat a wimpy man for breakfast and spit him out. They are all terrific successes in their careers.

Betty, hi, do you have anything to offer on the men w.this aspect? Do they want a heightened emotional state, does it have to be combative to get their blood boiling to feel something, or could it be that if they feel a strong sexual attraction that could lead to greater emotional closeness with someone? Or just anything in general Thanks

I'd be completely turned off by sb like that.

I have asc in aries, sun conjunct mars, pluto sextile sun by a degree so want sb confident and out there, but ANY conceitedness and I'm gone. I admire humility. Arrogant guys don't attract me, such a big turn off.

I hate arrogance in men but I love guys who are kind of a$$holes...you know, detached, outspoken but can be brute and harsh...I love that. Nice guys are no good for me, because ya know what? I'm kind of a b*tch.

Not sure why I like guys like that...I have a lot of water and fire in my chart so maybe I need that cool detachment and "i dont give a f*ck" attitude to reel me in..

And guys who have told me they LIKE my attitude and b*tchiness...they mostly have Earth, Fire, or Air placements...Sag or Taurus or Aquarius to be specific.

I love confident men. Confidence is top 3 quality in my book. No confidence no attraction. Arrogance is false confidence.
As Venus sq Mars,it is not true we r at war with romance, just excitement precedes candles

I'd be completely turned off by sb like that.

Its not meant as a come on, he definitely says it as a joke. It's just funny the way his overall demeanor is in contrast to what he says. His acquaintances (who think they're good friends with him) would be shocked to hear those words coming out of his mouth.
