And are you the opposite of what they say?

I read a lot that my sun sign Aquarius is afraid of commitment and do not like committing to one person/thing and overall make terrible partners. But thats not true at all. I take relationships very seriously, I am not interested in flings, or short-term involvement those kinds of relationships put me off.. When I decide *giving it a lot of thought by the way* to be with someone, i expect longevity , not "forever" but something close to it, I am devoted to that person, willing to make it work, you name it.

So i dont know why i read so much stories of women especially calling Sun Aquarius bad partners/heart breakers.

What about you guys? What are lies people say about your sun sign, and are you the exact opposite? Share some interesting stories!

I don't know about lies. It angers some folks when I say there are a lot of stereotypes, but that is my honest opinion. I don't conform in many ways to my specific sun sign, ascendant, mars or venus. I suppose we're not supposed to view any of these in isolation.

Stereotypes that I feel don't fit my sign (Capricorn) is ...putting work above everything else, being super serious and money-oriented, not being passionate, etc.

maybe it's because i have mostly water and fire (LOTS of Sag) in my chart, but I am soooo not the typical traits of a Capricorn. my Sun & Neptune are both in Cap and they are conjunct and both in my 2nd house and i STILL am not a materialistic, money-hungry person. i'm the exact opposite. the only thing i need money for is emotional security - knowing i have something to fall back on in case i ever want to leave or do something.

I agree. Everyone quotes a Taurus mooner as feeling like you're floating on a cloud 'cause everything is so calm... uhm, NO. We're moody and hardheaded when it comes to changing our minds about how people are feeling for us.

I also get tired of the "me me me" Aries always gets a rap for. I get bored with myself and I'm more interested in other people and reading them than talking about myself. I willll concede though I just met a "me me me" Aries. She was like "What do you think of me?" and I'd just met her, or "What do you think of me and my boyfriend?" "Watch my videos on YouTube, I sing. I got past three rounds in American Idol. Tell your friends." "Yeah, I've seen ghosts... like, this one time... blah blah blah me myself and I blah blah blah."

YoursT, I think you completely miss the point of some reactions to your nonastro posts.

To answer the question on this thread; I agree with YoursT: it's not "lies" it's stereotypes.

To answer to YoursT: you must know more about astrology before you can reject it or have any strong opinion about it as a whole. When you first started in the banking profession, if someone came up to you and said "that's rubbish; it doesn't work for me", wouldn't you respond with an apprehension thinking "well, this guy knows next to nothing about banking". It's the same thing. The more you get to know a field of knowledge the better equipped you are to judge the negatives and the positives of it (nothing is 100% positive).

And yes astrology like any human science works with "stereotypes", i.e. statistically valid broad-brush cognitive categories. You have to understand the law of probability and statistics to understand the truth behind those stereotypes. Since you're good in math, you can think how that works. When we say e.g. "Aqua ppl are commitment-phobics", what we say in reality is this: "Aqua ppl are more likely to avoid commiment". It's an expression of likelihood, not a judgement about every specimen who happens to have Aqua sun. Yes, many ill-informed astrologers (usually the non-professional kind) will use the above fact and make it a generalization that expect to apply to anyone regardless of the nuances of their chart. Which is wrong.
Doing science is a very precise way of doing things. Amateur astrologers are anything but scientists IMO. So, I'd suggest you pick your mentors carefully if you wish to learn about astrology in a way that satisfies your objections.

That we are snobs and we have no emotions.
Virgos are soooo the opposite of that. We're actually really down to earth and much too humble (lol cos of us being self critical) and we are just as sensitive as water signs, if not more; we just don't broadcast it to the world.

Is it bad that I can't think of any lies told about Leos, that any publicity is good publicity?

I Will never take astrology hard. Thats only fun. I think its good if people are critical about astrology when thoughts are out of reality. When astrology are on very low level and say bad things about people more destroy than help .....

Maybe its sometimes say more about the person who write than astrology meaning.

That's cos you still don't know your true asc lol and you don't have the planets in the right house. You have to look at your aspects too, so of course each planet sign in isolation may not necessarily ring too many bells.

Talking about that, my father insists that my birth time is correct and that he was looking at clock on the wall at the time of my birth announcement. Back then, men weren't allowed in the delivery room.

Therefore, I don't understand your statement of not knowing the right planets in the right house.

That makes me a Pisces Ascendant, which feels so far from reality.

I'm just observing and gathering facts. I would like you invite you to comment on my synastry thread. It contains my original birth time.

Thank you.

It doesn't help that Vedic astrology gives me a different Ascendant and a different Moon. As far as I understand, the Indians invented astrology, possibly as far back as 7,000 years ago.

The Indians believe my Ascendant is Aries and my Moon is Taurus, which makes so much sense.

Western astrology believes my Ascendant is Pisces and my Moon is Gemini.

mintgirl - i totally agree with you about Virgos. i LOVE Virgos (both men and women) and i've never found you guys to be unemotional or snobby! i do find that the male Virgos like to keep their emotions hidden but it is obvious they are quite emotional, i know this because i can hear it in how you guys talk and the words you choose.

Virgos rock

The stereotype about Aries being hot-headed.

I'm quite the opposite. People that know me say I'm pretty zen.

It doesn't really bother me. We are all so much more our sun signs.

I don't know/care. People can believe whatever they want as long as I can have the same freedom.

That we think we're better than everyone else and that we're attention-wh**res who constantly need the spotlight on us and don't think and care about anyone but ourselves.

The biggest attention-wh**res I've encountered, the ones that absolutely needed all eyes on them all the time, weren't even Leos. The most self-absorbed people I've ever interacted with, weren't Leos either. The most holier-than-thou people I've encountered that think everyone is beneath them in some way, usually have a strong Cap signature in their chart, but NOT Leo...

Pretty much every lame personality trait usually gets pinned on Leos, unjustifiably so.

That Cancerians are whiny momma's kids. We might love and appreciate our families, but we can be a lot more independent and freedom-loving than others. We're not all flowers and rainbows and unicorns dammit. :P
