Hmm, are you talking about synastry or a natal chart? Either, opposite and oppose are the same thing... I don't think I've ever heard of oppose used in chart interpretation... Of course, I could be wrong.IP: Logged |

I forget where on the forum someone mentioned it, but according to the myth, Jupiter overcomes Saturn. Of course, it all depends on the strength of your Jupiter and Saturn i.e. aspects and placements. Hope that helps.IP: Logged |

logically, you'd think its the same thing..and i cant think of a reason why it would be different------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

What about in transit? I'm assuming they would be different from each other. I've had both at the same time for that matter. IP: Logged |

transits and synastry it would be different ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

This is the way I understand it so far: In a natal chart, it's the same thing. Jupiter opposition Saturn = Saturn opposition Jupiter
In a transit, they are not exactly interchangeable. The transiting planet is the one affecting the natal planet. Robert Hand in "Planets in Transit: Life Cycles for Living" (I think these are the descriptions used in the astro.com ClickCharts) has a description for each, and they reflect the differences. So I take it that there is a differentiation between Jupiter transiting nSaturn and vice versa. e.g. (and the following are not verbatim from any particular source, just to be clear; just my offhand interps) Transiting Venus conjuncts your natal Sun: You radiate Venusian energy during this transit (well, actually the day before the exact conjunction). You'll be more charming and sociable than usual.
tSun conjuncting your natal Venus: You want to socialize more than usual. Your social tendencies (whatever they may be in the chart) are awakened. So as to your Jupiter-Saturn example... In a natal chart, Jupiter opposition Saturn indicates that there is a see-sawing effect between the two and it's difficult to reconcile, so one works while the other is at rest. (This is paraphrased from "Aspects in Astrology: A Guide to Understanding Planetary Relationships in the Horoscope" by Sue Tompkins: http://www.amazon.com/Aspects-Astrology-Un derstanding-Planetary-Relationships/dp/0892819650/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322710090&sr=8-1 ) Not sure what would happen if both are receiving transits...oh well, glad I don't have to deal with that myself. Anyways.. In a transit:
tJupiter opposition nSaturn: External circumstances offer you an opportunity for expansion but they are anathema to your responsibilities/sense of security. tSaturn opposition nJupiter: Not a period to indulge your need for expansion and growth because Saturn is asking you to take care of the business at hand.
