I posted a while ago about this rare but very important aspect (when a planet is 17 degrees or more near to the sun it gains in strength). As this is older astrology some don't use it however I found another example besides Nero and Alicia Silverstone and that example is Gordon Ramsay. I am not feeling great so will not be responding much but just thought to get the ball rolling on this one. He has a cazimi venus, so is this responsible for his incredible wealth and success? As well as the scorpio and virgo placements of course. http://www.librarising.com/astrology/celebs/gordonramsay.html IP: Logged |

I read somewhere (and I beat myself up for not bookmarking it) that there is another condition for Venus to be cazimi. It had something to do with the orbit of the Sun. Oh well...My Sun and Venus are within 10 minutes of arc, but according to the method I told you about, they would not be cazimi. Since the conjunction takes place in Aries and Mars is at one degree from the Sun, Mars would be the one "scorched" and Venus dignified, but it feels the other way around. IP: Logged |

i don't get this. wouldn't venus always be near sun? i have about a 10 degree distance between mine. venus at 6 degrees taurus and the sun at 16. they're in the 7th house. chiron and my north node are close to that 17 degree digit in the next sign gemini. not sure if there is a chiron cazimi tho i read pallas in the link. i love gordon ramsay! we have the same daymaster in chinese astro. Yes, DayandNight confused degrees with minutes in the original post. My sun is at 16'46'' Aries (that's 16 degrees and 46 minutes) and Venus is at 16'36''. The difference is 10 minutes of arc and cazimi's limit is 17.More about combustion and cazimi here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combust_%28astrological_aspect%29 IP: Logged |

I love this topic. My mother has an exact mercury/Sun one. I thought the term only referred to Mercury and the Sun. Is that true?Anyway, I think it makes for real problems with stepping back from one's ego. I have not read the responses, so am just giving my sense. I think it may be one factor in mental and emotional illness. What do people think? ------------------ Want a peek in to my journal? http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

Cazimi is so rare I love finding one, I do still think Gordan Ramsay has cazimi with sun venus but could be wrong so please correct me if so. Gordon has used his positively for growth, growth and further growth. Alicia had mega success early on in her career getting a lucrative deal in the film industry and Nero was a mixed bag going to extremes in both goodness and evil. I read somewhere there are 2 schools of thought on cazimi. I would give the source but it was so long ago. From memory one states that the planet is fortified by the sun and so can act really positively for good. The other school of thought is that which is a bit like a black hole effect, the planet overshadowed by the sun creates a draw of negativity sucking the whole of the chart in with sometimes diastrous consequences. I think we need a few more examples to see if cazimi is relevant in this day and age. IP: Logged |

Combustion: the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn become combust, during their direct motion, when their longitudinal arc is 12, 17, 14, 11, 10 and 16 degrees respectively from the Sun on either side.Cazimi: a planet that forms a conjunction with the Sun within 17' (arc minutes). so venus combust is when it is the degrees that are that far away? first link i found had this.. quote: Venus combust may take away the strength to achieve, but when in a particularly close conjunction with the Sun it produces the condition sometimes termed nymphomania - described by Bolitho concerning Lola Montez.
i think i have the combust then being 10-ish degrees away and in direct motion. IP: Logged |

15degrees 38'mins 15degrees 30' mins so it is 8 so under the 17 allowed for cazimi that is why gordans venus appears cazimi to me, correct me if wrong. Thanks Maira for the article, have read it a while ago and again today, love that website.
