A friend of mine calculates on which house the transit will fall according to her ascendant. She disregards the sun sign.
If this is a correct method, then how can anyone base horoscopes to sun signs ?
I am a double capricorn. Even though, I have sun/asc same, the chart shows the house placements different than the horoscopes. examp:
Neptune is transiting Capricorn's 2nd house and in 2012, will move to Capricorn's 3rd house. However, even though my ascen is capricorn as well, when I do transit chart on astro.com, it shows Neptune still in 2nd house - year 2020 ! Same with Uranus. It is supposed to be Capricorn's 4th house. Astro chart shows Uranus in 3rd house - year 2015 Same with Saturn... It's supposed to be Capricorn's 10th house - Astro chart shows
Saturn in 9th house Even Mars.. it's supposed to be in Cap's 9th house, astro chart tells it is in my 8th... The house placements of outer planets on my chart matches Aquarius on sun sign / house placement predictions of astrologers. Confused. IP: Logged |

Horoscopes use solar houses and like athene said, whole signs. This means that for Cap horoscopes, the chart is turned so that the 1st house begins with 1'00 Cap. If you use placidus or equal house systems (which is the default on astro), your 1st house/ASC probably begins at a later degree and so do all your other houses. So for instance, your ASC could be at 23 Cap, and if you use equal house, your 2nd house will begin at 23 Aqua and your 3rd at 23 Pisces, your 4th at 23 Aries, etc. this means that since Uranus is at the beginning of Aries, it's in your 3rd house still. Thank you for your help.I just did whole sign transit chart, and yes the house placement is more or less the same with the horoscopes. I thought placidus system gives better results than whole sign? Is this wrong ? astro.com on daily horoscopes,seems to be using Placidus system. Why is that ? If both systems can be used, how can there be such huge differences on the results ?
- the whole outlook of the next several year, the story... everything changes...

Look at it this way, hypothetically speaking, your ascendant is at 15 Leo, when Saturn enters 0 Leo, you feel it intensely. You feel the shift strongly, and when Saturn gets to 15 Leo, something fateful happens to you and everyone with the Ascendant at that same degree.IP: Logged |

I think I understand what you're telling but still I can not figure out how to work on the house placements of transits...Shall I base the interpration of transits to whole sign or plasidus ? If both can be used and both will be relative; that's the part that I do not understand.. how can that be ? Degrees can show me how and when the energy of a planet will manifest but where ? I think I am missing a vital information which is making it harder to understand.

Because if you use the placidus system, and Saturn entered Leo, you would still think Saturn is transiting the 12th house, which isn't true. IP: Logged |

You would think it was in the first house only after it reached the degree of your ascendant but it enters the first house at 0 degrees.IP: Logged |

As I checked several web-sites for further information, I see that people are arguing on which house system to use and do not have a tried&true answer. the charts with late degree ascendants,the planets will either move 1 house forward or backward depending on which house system is used. To me, this is bothersome. If I take both systems into consideration on my chart interpration... well, it will be like having a duplicate personality and a double life.
You are not even sure which house will be affected by the planet's energy.. but isn't this vital for an accurate prediction?
This poses a dilema in astrology from my point of view. Phew

When I google it, I can see that there is no tried&true system  I am nowhere close to have an opinion on this matter... I just don't have the sufficient knowledge. But I can say, I don't believe that both charts should be taken into account. It does not make sense to me. Maybe, both of them are not good enough. I don't know. In time, maybe I can IP: Logged |
