I'm a triple Aries but I constantly get reminded to work on my communication, people get confused talking to me at times, I have to re-explain myself over and over (I hate that.) I was wondering if it's the Gemini influence in my chart that causes this or if the squares to my Mercury have much influence. For the longest time I thought I was dumber than everyone else and was shy because of it. As time goes on I'm not sure why people can't keep up with what I'm saying. On one hand I have people telling me what a great writer I am, and how I should publish my stories and on the other (in conversation) people look at me puzzled and I have to break down my speech to them.

My ex is an Aries rising with Moon in Gemini and Aries Mercury and this doesn't sound like him at all. Your problem is likely due to something else in your chart.

You can see there's Mercury sq. Saturn and Mercury sq. Neptune but I've been told the orbs are too wide for any influence, other than that I think I have pretty good aspects.

Yeah those orbs to Saturn and Neptune are too wide. But your Mercury is aligned with Sun and Venus, so even if you stand strong in your ideas/thoughts, you can communicate in a pleasing manner. You sound just fine IMO. I don't think you should entertain the opinions of those people, they sound controlling.

Hannaramaa. I think your Gemini Mars in 12th is the culprit.

Again? But what's Mars got to do with communication, Mercury?

Also interesting theory about them being controlling, I never looked at it like that. I thought they were just confused...

According to "The Astrologer's Handbook," Gemini Mars loves debate. In your 12th House, which is the unconscious. You aren't consciously aware of it but others can see it.

If they're telling you to do work on your communication, as you stated, then they sound controlling. A confused person would simply ask for clarification.

Oh yes, well my pattern of speech comes across aggressive even though I'm not intending it to. I think that's why my temper affects others much deeper than I consciously realize. To me, my annoyance is gone in a flash but what I consider as "annoyed" behavior is actually other people's interpretation of being angry. It's always baffled me. If that's "angry" to others then god help me when I'm ACTUALLY angry towards someone.

And what if you're aware of your 12th house issues, is it still subconscious or is it simply the house that represents second nature to you that you have to curb?

That's a good question! It probably is still a subconscious issue, which you would have no control over. But I'm not sure. According to Carl Jung, that's a part of what enlightenment is: integrating the "dark" half into your conscious personality.

Do you have chronic insomnia, by any chance? I imagine having a cerebral Mars in your house of sleep would have that effect.

I'm having a Mars in Virgo (the other sign ruled by Mercury) transiting my 12th and I can't seem to get decent shut-eye. It happened the last time I had this transit as well.
