One of the greatest examples I can imagine is when I got accepted to college in 2007. I applied to many schools but between then I locked into the school I wanted to go to, athough it was somewhat expensive. My father, being who he is, told me that if I got accepted to a particular school he was going to make me go to it, as it was so cheap. In my heart I KNEW I had to go to Montana State (having now graduated from there, I was right). I wasn't about to allow him to manipulate my destiny.

With his stipulation of if I get accepted into a different school (NMT) in my mind, I planned it out. I watched the mail like a hawk every day waiting for the letter. It figures the day I get it, my dad got to it first, but luckily didn't open it. I told him I was busy and went upstaris to open it. Low and behold I got accepted! Well, I wasn't about to have that. I scanned the letter into the computer, and downloaded a program that turned a scanned document into a text document (copying the font and all). I deleted the acceptance letter, and retyped out a generic rejection letter, With the hedder and all. Printed it out, handed it to my dad a few minutes later, and that was that. I got to go to MSU. He didn't suspect a thing.

I NEVER use this type of skill for personal gain, ever. Only if I truly need it, like I did in this case.
