What aspects or placements would make someone funny? Like, genuinely funny, not stupid kind of funny (the ones that pretend to be stupid or act stupid to make people laugh) IP: Logged |

I noticed a lot of comedians like George Carlin, red fox had sun mercury in a conjunction. I would think Virgo for pointing out details. Also I think each sign has their own view on humor. Capricorns have a darker humor, were Aries may be good at physical comedy. Stand up, physical comedy, skits, satire, many many other types of comedy.

Could be due to synastry. I read somewhere on this board that Jupiter indicates what you find funny. Mine's in Leo and Leos usually crack me up without even trying. And my ex's Mercury in Aries is trine my Jupiter and apparently I'm the only person who finds him funny.IP: Logged |

Agree. I have very humorous friends and they all have sun-mercury conjunction.

The pythagorean triangle is one of the strongest indicators for being genuinely funny to a large number of people. I checked the charts of a few comedians that I like and they all had it. http://aliceportman.com/yods-and-quincunx/ IP: Logged |

"Acting stupid" is certainly a form of comedy. Like Jim Carrey is an excellent physical comedian, no one would say he's not funny. He's also been in "stupid" comedies like Ace Ventura, which is one of THE funniest movies ever made imo.Throughout my years of studying astrology, I've seen Capricorn pop up again and again in terms of comedy. Jim Carrey has Sun, Venus & Mars in Cap, with Sun conjunct Saturn in Aquarius. He also has Mercury conjunct Jupiter in the third in Aqua (as well as Venus & Sun in that house). One of my really good friends is also HILARIOUS in a physical way. He's the best story teller just because of his mannerisms. He's also a Cap Sun (Cap Rising) with Neptune in the first. IP: Logged |

^^ i agree "acting stupid" is a huge part of comedy.ever heard of monty python, french and saunders? their acting stupid has made them legendary in the world of comedy. thier styles are unpretentious and most endearing. most british comedy is like that, equal parts cleverness and sheer studipidity IP: Logged |

I've noticed that people with prominent Sag placements tend to crack me up like no other just by the way they phrase things so nonchalantly but in just an absurd way IP: Logged |

One of my all time favorite comedians has Mercury in Aquarius and Mars in Scorpio. He's hilarious and has a very ecstatic and dark sense of humor. He's a foreign comedian and it helps he's sexy as heavens. Earth signs tend to be pretty funny. Dave Chapelle is a Virgo and one of my friends is really funny and he's a Capricorn, but it might be his Air Moon and Air Rising that make him really silly. Coupled with those earth placements it gives him a bitingly sarcastic sense of humor. What makes me laugh are dirty things and things that aren't so obvious. I love thinking about a joke and exploading in laughter moments later. It's like a little challenge to figure out the naunces of humor in each statement. I consider myself a bit of a comedian I've got Mercury in Libra (8th House). IP: Logged |

Mercurial emphasis, Gemini/Virgo gives verbal wit and wordplay tendencies; sometimes physical comedic tendency. Examples: - Robin Williams (Mercury parallel Asc) - George Carlin (same) - Jim Carrey (Mercury-Jupiter parallel Asc and square it) - Tom Hanks (Virgo rising, Mercury parallel MC) - Bill Maher (Virgo riser, yes he is) - Jerry Lewis (Gemini riser, yes he is)Jupiter emphasis creates a jovial attitude (even if these folks are typically also anxiety prone), especially with Mercury/Moon is more dramatic, exaggerative, loud and quick with the laughter. Some tend to more intellectual finesse, but all of them love a good joke. Example: Tom Hanks, Moon parallel Jupiter. Saturn/Cap tends towards dry wit, humor that often goes unnoticed by those who need it to be more obvious. It tends to be subtle, commentary contained in a turn of phrase or even the enunciation of a word. Libra and Leo types deserve mention as well. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Rising Sign Descriptions | Expert rectification ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓ IP: Logged |
