What aspects could contribute to ex's coming in and out of your life. Or off and on relationships?
Most of my exs always return right when I'm getting over them! I have aqua sun/sag moon/libra rising venus in aries and cancer in mars

I think exs all do this lol. Like contacting you and have the frequency increase as soon as you've let go. It's like they can sense it somehow.

From my experiences, a few of my exes used to contact me like twice a month, and then since I'd continue to ignore, the frequency would decrease to once a month or once every like 50-60 days lol.. And then as soon as you're with somebody else, guess who suddenly decides it's a good idea to start calling/messaging daily? Or at least MUCH more often? -_-

I've had this happen with 3 exes! It annoys me lol. One decided it was a good idea to ring 2-4 times a day for two weeks. That just pi ssed me off.
It's usually squares in the chart I think?

Lol it probably is all exes. But i do have a couple of squares in my chart: sun sq pluto/venus sq mars/mars sq jupiter/jupiter sq neptune & uranus/saturn sq pluto. Is this bad for relationships?

I don't think it necessarily indicates boomerang relationships. And also, it's not uncommon for relationships to take a few swings back and forth before drawing to a close.

I do tend to shy away from attention. And i know relationships have ups and downs but somewhere i read certain aspects cause old lovers to pop in and out of your life. Lol maybe this was a stupid question..I'm known for those.

But if there are other placements in the chart that like being in a relationship, that could be a contradiction to the above, resulting in on/off dynamics...?
